….. at least in recent memory???

Maybe it’s preseason that resembled wet dog shit. Maybe it’s the litany of question marks that surround Kyler Murray. Maybe it’s the questions surrounding how good of a coach KOC actually is. Maybe it’s just me…

But this is the least amount of hype I’ve EVER had going into a season…and that’s including Darnold’s year (and I thought Sam was a fucking joke). I mean I’m gonna watch the games, but I have less than zero faith in K1. And this team will only go as far as he takes them. Therefore I have almost no faith in this offense.

I think the defense is good enough that they’ll be in every game this year regardless of opponent, but I don’t know if the offense can keep up their end of the bargain unless Kyler (by some miracle) can regain his form from more than half a decade ago. I hope I’m wrong.

I could make a case for Kyler going off for 4 total TD and beating Green Bay’s ass in week one. I could also make an equally compelling case for him throwing 3 picks and being an absolute disaster. I’m more dreading the game than I am excited for it.

I love the seasons where the Vikings are picked to finish last. There's a sprk of optomism despite the preseason shit show.

I don't see a superbowl team but I see a team with a chance to win the North. It's going to be hard to beat Detroit because of their very soft out of division schedule. But I think the Vikings have as good a chance as any NFCN team. They should have the best defense in the North.

More hopeful than excited.

I'd say there is a lot more reason to believe this year than two years ago, and that turned out pretty well (at least in the regular season 😒). I'm having a hard time getting excited about Kyler, mostly because I don't trust KOC to design nuances in the offense that take advantage of his skill set. It's also easy to look at last season and think, with just average QB play, we make the playoffs -- again, reason to be optimistic. So not so sure why I'm in a bit of a malaise about this team, this year. Maybe it's just good ole Viking fan curmudgeonry! Everywhere I look, the Vikings are predicted to finish last or next-to-last in the NFC North; the Rams have already been crowned Super Bowl champions and talking heads are speculating whether they will lose a game all season; Caleb Williams for MVP, etc., etc. While I kinda like flying under the radar and discount a lot of the pre-season hoopla, it does make optimism a little harder to muster.

How could you not be excited about this season?

1) We finally dumped the JJM experiment. Conclusion. He sucks and is a glass house who cant or wont play through injury

2) We have a STACKED WR room. Defenses will NOT be able to stack the box which will open up our run, PA and screen game

3) Our OL is healthy finally. We FINALLY have a solid LG. If Fries can do what he got paid for then we might have the best OL we have had in a decade

4) They are rookies but it seems like we might have the closest thing to the Williams Wall on the IDL.

5) Dallas Turner is going to blow peoples minds.

6) Kyler Murray played for an absolute shit show of a franchise and a cheap owner. He had limited skill positions around him. An old Fitz and beyond that McBride. OL sucked and the run game was ass also. He has been to Probowls. He opens up our offense with the scrambling potential which will keep D's honest. He has 4 seasons almost cracking 4000 passing and all had 20+ TD's. He is a lifelong Vikings fan. I'm pumped about Murray.

7) Our D will be top 10 again if not top 5 giving the offense plenty of opps to win games without putting up ungodly #'s.

8) GASP! We might get 3-4+ of our draft picks to actually stick. Bye Kwesi and good riddance.

9) We have a relatively soft schedule. A soft schedule made Drake Maye look like a probowler last year. He is coming back down to earth this year. Murray is going to benefit from that.

10) We dodged the injury bug all through TC and PS. We're going into the season at full strength.

What else do you need people?

I'm JACKED for this season! We also dumped a lot of older players and got younger.

I'm always excited for the football season to start. ☺️

When it come to the Vikings, even if I'm not thrilled with some offseason transactions and/or current roster, I still look forward to the season. As they say; "Any given Sunday". We really never know what to expect. There's always surprises as well as disappointments. That's just the name of the game. We can't control what they do or how they play. I always hope for the best, but... :sh_haps:So, with that in mind ~ Here's to a great season! SKOL!!!:flag_wave:

I hope you're right, but I just don't share your optimism at the moment.

The JJM experiment has failed and we're stuck in the same retread, dog shit, QB loop hell we've been in most of my life.

The receiver room IS great. Hopefully the QB doesn't continue to suck.

The line IS healthy. Hopefully the QB doesn't continue to suck.

The rookies on D and Dallas Turner should be good....hopefully our offense can score points

Kyler Murray did in fact play for a shit franchise, but he's at least EQUALLY at fault for his failures, his health, and his lack of leadership.

What I'm saying is all of the positives in the world don't mean anything if the Vikings don't get good to great QB play. And the jury is most definitely out on whether Kyler can do it or not. I, for one, have very little faith and won't be holding my breath.

I'm geeked.

On paper This could be the best Oline since 2009.

This is the first semi legit 5 WR group since 1998.. In 1998, they had Hatchette and Palmer.

I also think the reason last year went off the tracks had to do with Kwesi. Now that he's gone the vikings will play better.

FWIW I like Teasley already.

U.S. Bank stadium is DYING for a great Viking's win and Game 1 offers that opportunity. Let's kick it off right and if K1 catches fire, fans will erect the smallest statue you've ever seen out front. I have to see it first, but damn son....I'm ready to see it. LFG. 🔥

Me- The NFL is my favorite thing to watch so I'm already bought and sold. Even when the Vikings aren't amazing I still have a great time following the NFL as a whole. Super hyped.
My friends who are Vikings fans but maybe not quite as big of Vikings fan as me- Their excitement levels are way down. Jefferson is the only marketable player, people are skeptical about Kyler, and the refrain, "same ol vikes" gets thrown around a lot.

Casual fans are the worst IMO. Either ridiculously over the top high on the team or the biggest downers you've ever seen....and this is all with limited information as they occasionally read online things like Heavy.com, sportnaut, etc. and other shit ragebait sites and take their cues from that. Its fine that they are casual fans, I just don't want to talk with them as its an exercise in futility. They couldn't name 3 of the 5 starting offensive linemen if you paid them.

I'm also a fan of the whole NFL, so I love watching it all day long on Sundays. #I💜ScottHanson

That's why they play the games, but seems your mind is already made up. Hype is in the eye of the beholder. Cheer up: if the team stinks, a whole group of posters who've been ghosts all summer will magically reappear and you can take turns shitting on the team.

I feel like if nothing else, this will at least be an interesting season. Whether Kyler elevates his game or not is TBD, but I like the fact that KOC has shown the ability to get the most out of veteran QBs in his 5 years with the team. I think the offense will be improved in the pass game. The run game is my biggest issue in KOCs scheme. He has never utilized it correctly, and in many cases abandoned it all together. The rookie Claiborne didn’t really show much in the preseason for me to get excited about him, and AJ is a year older. Mason can’t block, so he’ll never be a viable option to start games.

Defensively, we all assume Flores will keep them effective, but there are real question marks in the secondary. Hopefully, the rookie Demmings can be a much needed lift to that group, but time will tell. Can Turner be an every down edge rusher? Lots of questions there, but that doesn’t make me less hopeful. There is a pathway to another playoff berth this season. SB? I doubt that, but a 10 to 11 win season is reasonable to expect.

Nice post.

I'm with you, this isn't a Superbowl squad this season. 10 wins I would find disappointing as we got 9 last year with 'the worst QBing in human history' 😜 But entertaining? Yes. I know some fans like their fantasy numbers for guys like Jefferson. Maybe VikingNation would take that compared to last year's disappointing season. Is there upside for some surprise? Maybe. One game at a time for me, looking forward to watching it unfold.

There's been some real shit football at USB stadium lately and it sucked.

Let's win some games and have fun this year, the fanbase (for the most part) deserves it.

Especially with no Micah Parsons and possibly no Josh Jacobs. Blow the Packers out and start this season with attitude

I personally think we win game 1 in pretty dominant fashion. There will be HEAVY hype on the little guy after week 1 with a lot of talk about the Vikings in the media. Bet on it.
