Alexander Dolly Mattison Draft Profiles
#21
I know this has nothing to do with talent but this kid is a very humble and intelligent person, and to me where he may fall short in some analysts’ opinions on that natural skillset I think he’ll make up for in intelligence and work ethic. The more I see of this young man the more I like him....I was just not a fan of all the trade backs before we acquired him. That’s got nothing to do with him, though. I think he’s going to be a good player for us.

Agree on the multiple trade backs being Rick's issue and that we shouldn't judge Mattison based on Rick's strategy if we didn't agree with it. After his press conference, he has convinced himself that he will be able to use all of that draft capital to move up and get the guys they want because this is such a deep draft with quality players still available. Maybe, but how many teams covet 6th and 7th round picks outside of Rick and the Vikings? I will hold my judgement until we are done with day 3 and see what they come up with. I would like them to move back up in the fourth to get a second pick.

He runs with great balance and leg strength.  You can see it when he runs through tackles or a defender tries to tackle him from the side.  He doesn't break stride through contact...

I knew nothing about this kid prior to the Vikings drafting him, but he looks like a good pick.  Definitely has a nose for the end zone from a couple yards out.  He'll be a nice replacement for Murray.

leroy Hoard
I have him as a Leroy Hoard/Moe Williams type that can be a good cannonball for goal line plays.

He also is apparently a very good backfield receiver, and his blocking is a positive...so...a good counterpart for Cook, I think.

He gets heavy around the goal line...like a 240 back...

His 1.51 10-yard split jumps out at you. As exciting as the home run guy can be, I really like one cut guys with acceleration like he has. I’m excited about this draft thus far!
