Not to mention I woulda gotten busted for lude and lascivious at the drive in movie without a car.  I guess your self driving one could get you to a drive in. If they were around.
I'm not trusting any onboard computer to keep my secrets.

HAHAHA!!! Who am I kidding. I couldn't even keep that secret. I bragged that sh!t up.

Edit: had to correct myself. Lewd kind not lude. Lusty not stoner...however.
Alexa, please add toilet paper to my grocery list!!
Who is this Alexa you speak of?
Does she like drive ins? Wink
I suppose as long as she has an internet connection and 120V she can talk dirty to you all night as long as you ask her to!!!
She sounds a little dangerous.  Maybe she has a sister.

120v would I introduce her as my "current" girlfriend? I have a rule of not plugging into things plugged in.

Ive had the exact same concerns,  changing road conditions that the car cant see but we can.                                                      ....                                    yep that what I was thinking

Example last fall a church that was located next to the  highway last fall had there auto sprinklers still on in the evening so later in the night it would freeze instant ice  how would a smart  driverless car  know that till it was  to late

First, we need to stop calling them "self-driving cars". This is a whole new category of vehicle.

Second, they are already safer than human drivers. The big issue is who is at fault in the event of an accident. That is the biggest holdup in this whole process. Insurance companies can currently gouge the heck out of consumers with every accident. Once that is no longer possible, profits will start to flatten and the auto insurance industry is much less lucrative. That's why all of the anti-automated vehicle news coverage all has the same, odd thesis: "isn't it better to be killed by a human than a technical error?". Um... what?

Third, these vehicles need to be completely re-designed to accompany the benefits (and potential downsides) of this new technology. If range sensors, infrared, cameras, GPS and other systems are guiding the vehicle... why are there still windshields? If the driver is a computer, why are people facing forward? Why are they fully upright? Why is the engine in the "hit here first" area?

Fourth, and finally, as someone who drives long distances for work... I would absolutely buy one. Heck, my company might just buy one for every single field sales person they have. Productivity would skyrocket if you could work while being transported. Not to mention, this would eliminate a huge, growing problem in distracted driving (texting/Pokemon-ing).

This will impact a huge number of industries (airline travel, shipping, local delivery, and many more).

After further review I'll stick with the wife she's at least grounded
