I have no doubt in my mind if the team or a teammate asked him Brian would be in uniform that day.
Of course he would. It's ridiculous to think otherwise. For the life of me, I don't understand those who think this was some sort of personal thing.

POPS does....but he's his Dad. Emotion is rooted in it. It gets clouded. He blames Spielman. I'm sure there's things we don't know, but when family is involved, its thicker than water. He's standing up for his son, I get it.

I agree.
I guess I don't find it all that ridiculous. He gave up alot to stay with the team but still got cut. Disappointed to say the least.

I totally get standing up for your son. I do the same thing for mine. But it's rarely an objective take. Right or wrong, I have no reason to believe that the Vikings' decision to release Robison was based in anything other than what they thought was best for the team this year, and in the future. It happens on every team, every season. So if asking Robison to come back is best for the Vikings, then that's what will happen. I hope it does and I hope Robison comes back if Griffen is out for any length of time. He could give the Vikings an emotional boost at a time when they need it most.

It wouldn't feel personal to you if you took paycuts the last two years, stated you wanted to play one final year to help bring a championship to the team and then get fired right before the season?

I don't see what is so hard to understand about that.

You don't? If my employer asked me to take a pay cut, I would probably start to question if my contribution to the company justified my compensation. If they asked me two years in a row, I'd know the answer to that question. I'm not sure how many times a team is supposed to keep players around for "one more year." Jesus, look around....every aging veteran in the NFL wants to play one more year. Now, you can argue that Robison might have given us more than, say, Bower and/or Weatherly. That's a legit debate we can have. What is the upside/downside of choosing Robison over a young player you may not want to expose to waivers? Dunno. I might even come down on the side of Robison if that is the calculation being made. But this idea that Robison was "fired" because...um...what? Something personal? Hell I don't even know the argument being made.

Then why argue?

Seriously.

Myself and others have made those arguments elsewhere.  If you haven't followed, that is fine.  But then why proclaim you don't know what you are talking about?

Maybe because they got it from me. Some of the things that have gone on between Brian and his agent with RS. Also the way everything was done last year during the eventual pay cut and knowing Brian wanted to retire a Viking at the end of this year.
Asking him this year to take a huge pay cut, which he agreed to and then releasing him.
There is a lot of things, but here's a good question to ponder.
If it's not personal and your team is in a bit of a turmoil (like now) why haven't you already made a call to a player who kept your defense running smoothly for the past couple of years? And the same player was described by Zimmer as being one of the best leaders be has come across during his career.
If you answer those questions then tell me what conclusion you come too.

In fairness Pops the Vikings might not know what direction the Griffen thing is going?  Although its wuite possible touve got better connections then any of us.

I agree I was pissed that the Vikings released him at cut down time but I have to think its because the Vikings brass thought going younger was the right direction?  The leadedship gets judged play to play, game to game and year to year. I cant imagine theyd risk their carreers over some sort of vendetta over a player?

Anyway, I hope like hell that they ask Brian back (and he accepts) and that he fills a leadership void we obviously have and our D goes onto great things and brings a championship home.

I dont have it yet but i probably need to track down a Brob jersey for my wall of fame that has my favorite vikings on it because Brian certainly belongs there.
