Teddy had 44 rushing attempts his last year playing... and his mobility was a plus and many “wanted” him to stay in the pocket and keep his eyes downfield instead of taking off.
Sam Bradford had 20 rushing attempts.
Case had 40 rushing attempts.
Teddys line sucked, Sams was the same/worse, Case had 40 attempts with a much improved OL, i dont think any of these really will paint a good or bad picture because it all could be argued one way or the other.
by the way, the pocket that some wanted Teddy to stay in was so inconsistent that it would have been retarded to try and guess which down the the OL was actually going to block and and to try and hold the ball longer or hang out in the danger zone. again, we really need to throw away much of 15 and 16 in terms of QB play simply because the offense and supporting cast were so poor.
we really cant compare Teddy to Sam to Case just because the variable were so far apart.
You would think that would be obvious, but it's shocking how often it comes up.

Why does Teddy’s Bengals performance get a pass?
Did he look comfortable? Did it look like he had improved? Did he look like a starter?
For me the answer is no for all those questions. Teddy was handed the keys to this team due to the lack of QB talent at the time... Today the Vikings have QB talent, one traded for and one emerged to play his best ball yet. Nobody can say that they knew Case would preform the way he did... well maybe his mom... but I digress. IF Teddy could be “the guy”, that would be the best thing for this org. BUT....
Will Teddy still trust his legs when a play breaks down? Did he lose a step due to the injury? Was the injury genetics? Can Teddy come back mentally from such an injury? Having your leg fall off while doing “normal” walk thru type things.. cannot be a comfort when you are going to have 300+ lb people trying to take you down.
Sam could have the same questions, except his game was never a “running/scramble” QB. His game was arm and accuracy.
Case just put up his best season. He loves it here... might play into taking less money, doubt it, but it might. BUT... how much of his success was OC related. Will a new OC mean a less successful Case?
Rick gets A TON of credit on this site, for a GM who hasn’t got the QB position right yet.... this will be the decision that either erases all those struggling years or adds to them.
I’m not getting any younger.... I hope he gets it right.
bro he was in for TWO PLAYS
Whose fault was that?
The second drive, it was Floyd dropping an easy first down?
And the fact that we were leading and in the 5 minute offense.
Was the throw where it needed to be or did the ball placement make what should have been an easy catch... a difficult one?
And what happened on that first drive? He threw high...like he’s done in the past... accuracy is important.

Zerk, I'm pretty sure the Vikes had backups in by the time Teddy got in the game. I wouldn't put too much stock in how he played. I'm sure it was a very emotional one for him. What's your point? The QB is as good as his last game? If so, how does Case and Sam look right now? Maybe all three of these guys suck based on their last performances.

Hit Floyd right in the hands as he was running. Floyd dropped an easy first down.
First one was too high and too hot. It wasn't an accuracy thing cuz Jet was right in front of him. It was likely nerves, emotion all amped up.
So 2 throws. 1 on the money was dropped. Please extrapolate that over an entire year and tell us what you read out of that.
Maybe we should do the same with Sam and Case. Take the Chicago game for Sam and the Steelers game for Case.

So.... doesn’t that put more importance on the Bengal performance then? Same line. Same OC. Same stadium. Same opponent. Is it because he sucked so it doesn’t count?
Face it... if he came in and “played lights out” during mop up duty.. it would be used to make his case.
no it doesnt. the sample size was way to small to say anything pro or neg. lets say that high pass was completed and taken to the house, it was still a short dump off pass and really doesnt say anything about the QB. a quarter would be to small unless he was obviously shit as in visibly uncomfortable, which he wasnt, he was amped up but thats to be expected.

Only about 30 more days of this QB discussion.
one way or the other I am ready for it to be over. no new points are being made either way, very little new information coming out. who ever it is, i wish it was settled already.
Look, you guys stated that we should only compare “apples to apples” when discussing the QB position so that’s what I’m trying to do. I can only focus on Teddy’s 2017 season under our then OC, same line scheme, same head coach same whatever. Is it fair? No... and I know that, it’s extremely obvious that it’s not. But it’s the only “stats” allowed if you want to discuss “apples to apples”. Sam had a huge first game vs Saints(2017 Playoff team)under Pat. Case struggled his first outing vs the Steelers(2017 Playoff team) under Pat. Teddy threw a pick and an incomplete pass(could be called a “bad throw” but the receiver got his hands on it so that should be a catch at the NFL level) vs the Bengals(7-9 2017 team... 5-8 when we played them) under Pat.
Sam’s first six plays trailing by 3.
Sam Bradford pass complete short middle to Dalvin Cook for 4 yards
Sam Bradford pass complete short left to Stefon Diggs for 11 yards
Sam Bradford pass complete short left to Adam Thielen for 6 yards
Dalvin Cook right end for -1 yards
Case’s first six plays. score tied 0-0.
Case Keenum pass complete short right to Dalvin Cook for 1 yard
Case Keenum pass incomplete short middle intended for Jerick McKinnon
Jerick McKinnon left guard for no gain
Teddy’s first six plays. Vikings lead. Mop up duty.
Jerick McKinnon left guard for 1 yard
Teddy Bridgewater pass incomplete short middle intended for Jerick McKinnon is intercepted
Latavius Murray right guard for 2 yards
Teddy Bridgewater pass incomplete short middle intended for Michael Floyd
Sam played with the starters that he had all preseason with. Case stepped into the starter role after Sam couldn’t start. Teddy played with backups... but since he himself is a back up they should know each others tendencies.
I think a certain poster is trying to live up to his name. Or maybe I'm just berserk for thinking that's way too small of a sample size to make any definitive conclusions.

if its not a fair comparison.... then why do it? you wont convince anybody of anything with that small of a bag of evidence. not saying not to do it, but I am saying it will be easy to shoot full of holes... just as easy as saying that Teddy looked great in preseason 2 years ago so he should be out guy.. or Sam was awesome against the Saints, to small of a sample or too much has transpired since.
So only Teddy can be excused for being amped up? I thought he was GUMP? Sam wasn’t amped up on his first game, Monday night “everyone watching”? Case wasn’t amped at his chance to earn millions in a new contract if he plays well? If Teddy hadn’t thrown high in his previous seasons I coudn’t care less about that INT in mop up. But his accuracy is a question.... is it not?
All three QBs have questionable futures. People assume Sam will not play a 16 game season in his career again. Case is assumed to already hit his ceiling. But Teddy’s assumptions are all positives? I don’t understand that train of thought and just offering up reasons (within the apples to apples criteria) behind that.
