Outside of 3t, if you were going to improve one starting spot it would be

Jaleel has promise, but he was a late rounder.  No idea if he is going to be the type of 3-tech we need to collapse the pocket.  Seems like Tom Johnson started to wear down or was neutralized as the season went on.  Some want to point to the DEs for the lacking pass rush, but I think our interior push suffered and that allowed the QBs room to operate.

Would love to see someone like Lotulelei.  But I do think Stephen is a must resign (within reason) as we need that NT and Joseph needs rest and backup.

Yeah, TJ did everything that was asked of him, but he is not a long-term guy, more a spot player.  He definitely wore down.  I wold like to know if Dylan Bradley is gaining weight to be a legit DT.  That would make me feel better about the talent on board right now.

I keep thinking I watched a different team is the Playoffs. Maybe I'm color blind?

What I saw was Hill not being able to adequately block in Pass Pro. Just like Remmers before him.

Folks, both are League Average. They'll hold up fine against a lot of guys but once you get to the Postseason you're likely not facing regular dudes. Now you're facing Pro Bowl and All Pro DEs.

I lauded the Remmers signing because League Average was a massive upgrade over what the team had in recent years. But that's not good enough against the Jordans and Grahams of the world.

Trader Rick passed on some chances to get a developmental OT last Draft, though a few of those guys went right before he picked, so that may have altered his plans.

Can't risk finding a guy to develop any more. This team showed it can compete for the ultimate prize now. Doubt the FO.looks to FA for help given what they spent last year to sign Reiff & Remmers.

I would personally use the 1st Round pick on a RT. And I'd move up if necessary. Minnesota doesn't need 6 new contributors from this Draft. That's the benefit of a deep Roster.

RT to compete with Hill and hopefully move him back to his swing Tackle role where I think he has the highest value. Get another scat Back later in the Draft to replace Jet. Sign a veteran CB to replace Newman. Sign a veteran DT as the bridge to JJ. Another mid-round OG to compete with Izzy and Easton. A higher pick at DE to rotate with Griff.

Bam! Easy peasey off season. Wel...except for that QB conundrum.
Not that I disagree on going OT in the first,  but I keep reading about how deep this roster is and I don't see it.  What position besides DE and RB do we have quality depth at?  What position can we say that if we lose the starter that the next man up can carry the position for the season and in the playoffs?  I don't see it,  and DE is even questionable considering that was a major shortcoming this playoff when Griff was slowed and Zim didn't limit him more.

It's all comparative. Look at the Vikings roster head to head with some of the others in the NFC North. They each have their weaknesses but the Vikings definitely have more depth on both sides of the ball than everyone else. Depth doesn't have to be a starter. Anyone who has the potential to eventually start or would clearly be on another teams 53 man roster is good depth.

thats my point,  going into next year we dont have a lot of starter type depth on our roster as backups IMO.  at least not in this scheme.   they can take snaps,  but there will be a definite drop off in performance level and the team would have to scheme to hide those deficiencies.

Too bad they don't have a way for the team to select guys out of college to fill those spots.  Or perhaps a way for a team to sign some from other teams...

Keenum's ability to teleport himself has a lot of people forgetting that the Vikings need to improve the OL.

I see OL as the top priority.  Then CB because that's always a need for a team competing for championships.  I'm concerned about DE depth, moving forward past next year because the defensive line is the whole reason the defense works.

But right now, priority one is OL, any position, best players available - not developmental guys.  With a comfort level our QB looks instantly better and injury concerns at QB are reduced.

If I'm Zimmer, I'm looking for an OL, a 3T, and signing two of our three in-house QBs before the draft.
