First, it is Replay, not Instant Replay. Instant Replay is when they replay the previous play just so we can see it again.
Nobody ever said replay would be quick, and when they try to limit the time it is usually a cluster fuck, or should I say more of a cluster fuck. I would rather it take a little bit longer for them to get it right than to hurry and get it wrong. Finally, I think the only way to fix this system is to go with the college system. It seems like they get a lot of things right where the NFL gets them wrong. I do think limiting the coaches to a certain number of challenges is BS, if the ref screws up 4 times, you will only get to challenge 3 times. That is giving them the benefit of the doubt and saying they will get the first two right when they do challenge.

I'm still at a loss as to how, as professional football has been played since before 1920, the definition of a catch and what constitutes a TD is still debated today. Replays can certainly help confirm what the current definition is, but the tortuous explanations I have heard and seen over the last several years leave me perplexed.

My fix: HIRE. FULLTIME. REFS.
Having the incompetent verify the work of the incompetent fixes nothing.

British the viewing audience with some in game advertising. But I still would allow the coaches to challenge calls, but I would let them challenge as many as they want. As long as they keep getting the challenges right.

The NCAA system works far better, why reinvent the wheel. NFL works like DC.

The UGA Ala game just had a review on a scoring play, super close call and it took about a minute for them to get it right.
NFL-watch and learn. |
