It's going to be interesting to see where Mayfield goes in a stacked QB class. I would be good with the Vikings taking him.


FWIW...I'm thinking our QB's next year are....Keenum, Sloter, mid round pick.

Sloter won't be handed anything, he'll have to compete. As it should be. Hopefully, he'll see decent playing time in preseason next year. If the guy can evolve to a #2 QB spot, that would be amazing. Not sure if that happens or not, time will tell.

Hmmm...that would make me very nervous. Let's say Keenum turns back into the pumpkin, which may not happen, but you have to at least think of it as a distinct possibility, if not a likelihood. Then you're faced with turning a Super Bowl roster over to a rookie, and a developmental guy. I love me some Sloter, but I'd like to see another year in oven. 

I like Mayfield, but I need to see more. Remember, Johnny Football wasn't just a disaster OFF the field. I know that's not a fair comparison, but that's the dude he reminds me of most. 

#5 is alive. Unless Case takes us to a Super Bowl, Teddy is still the most likely future for this team. The knee makes you nervous and that nervousness might impact what the FO decides to do, but I think we need a veteran very much like Keenum to support whoever the QB is. 

I'd say if we don't have Shurmur to pair with Keenum, sticking with Teddy AND Keenum would be more prudent...

Agree, but that's an ideal situation that we likely can't afford. If we can figure out a way to keep all three and get Dalvin back, then I'm going trademark "19 for '19" as the Vikings mantra. Na na na na na na na na Nineteen.

Hell, I don't know if we have 2 really good QB's on this roster now and Sloter?

3 if you think Sam, Teddy and Keenum are all long term viable? 

Or Cinderella ends, Teddy never fully comes back and Sam joins him in assisted living housing?

Its still far to early to know what the Vikings are going to do. As for Mayfield I get the vibe that he either is going to go in the top 15 or will fall in the mid to late 2nd range. He's a love/hate type of player. The draft process will be interesting for him. 

On the Vikings side the first shoe to drop will be Shurmur. I wouldn't be knocking down Case's door unless you know for a fact he is going to be put in the same offensive system. The coaching hires look a bit weak this year which only leads you to believe that Shurmur is going to have a real shot of getting a job somewhere. The good is that there will be some decent O-coordinators available that have a relationship with Zim. Jay Gruden and Hue Jackson being the main two. Kevin Stefanski may be an internal candidate otherwise. 

At the end of the season, maybe Case is the guy. But I still don't see them letting Teddy walk out of the door. They'll either re-pursue tolling his contract or franchise tag him with the goal of trading him for a mid-round pick.

Depends where Teddy is at that point, how Case finishes this year, hiw much we will need to spend on Teddy or Case, what our needs are, how we finish etc.

It's really going to depend on the team. He's improved a lot as a "quarterback" this season while still being electric in the open field outside the pocket. If you're team that is going to want him to sit in the pocket and make plays from there, you won't have a high grade on him. If you're willing to be creative he is arguably worthy of a top 10 pick. We'll see what teams thing throughout the process.

We have an embarrassment of riches at QB.  Keenum, Bridgewater and apparently enough people think highly of Sloter, that many NFL teams (including Denver, who wanted to stash him after he passed waivers...and did not).  Why would you not instead try to build a long-term Dallas-like OLine, with the best OLinemen you can find?  Look what happened when Rick upgraded this year.  And Berger will be retiring.  OGs don't usually go at the top of the draft...I'd find the best OG in the land and grab him at the bottom (I hope) of the first round.
