Since 2011... Vikings QB situation...
Donovan "worm burner" McNabb, Ponder, Webb,
2012 - Ponder, Webb.
2013 - Cassel, Ponder and brings in Josh "can't hit the broad side of a barn" Freeman to "improve" the situation.
2014 - Bridgewater(after Norv pounded the table for the guy) Cassel, and Ponder.
2015 - Bridgewater, (over the) Hill.
2016 - Bradford (traded first round pick 2017 and a 4th round 2018), (over the) Hill (still).
2017 - Bradford, Keenum(finally a backup that's worth something).
Some would say Spielman can't evaluate QB talent. Something that is needed in a GM today's NFL. Instead he relies on his coaches/coordinators. Without Norv, I doubt Teddy is a Viking. And since Norv blew a gasket and walked... I'm guessing that Shurmur had a hand in Bradford's signing. It was a battle of OCs (present and former) about how to use the newly acquired "toy"...
And QB is only one position.
I am betting Norv leaving had more to do with the oline situation and the fact that the team wouldn't make any big swings for guys like joe thomas or staley who were rumored to be available but would have hurt the teams cap plan for the future.
As far as QBs....you just supported the story by bringing up mcflabb, he was most certainly a Childress signing. Freeman was likely Spielman but he took a shot and missed in a horrible year with a guy at HC that was basically forced on him IMO. I never got the feeling that spielman wanted les.
He's had his misses just as every GM, but I don't think he is as bad as some want to paint him to be.
Now mauer....Holy shit how is that not a bad contract? It ate historically 20+% of the twins annual payroll on a guy that was only a for average hitter, whose performance never seemed to show up at clutch times and although he was a decent (not great) catcher, it was pretty evident that a position change was in his future.
LOL! McNabb was Chilly's fault, huh?
Chilly was fired midway thru the 2010 season. Vikings worked out a deal with Washington in the summer of 2011 for McNabb. You didnt even bother checking for accuracy, you just immediately kicked into "defend Ricky" mode.
And you got the "feeling" Spielman didn't want Less? Well, I guess that makes it a fact then! We'll ignore his numerous public comments applauding and supporting Less.
The excuses for Richard have now reached comical levels.....blaming an ex-coach who was no longer part of the team for a failed personnel move. Classic.
yep your are right, i mis-remembered, but mine isnt agenda driven, unlike your blathering.
and if you dont want to read about my opinion then i suggest you put me and my opinions on ignore, or shut the fuck up with your sarcastic shit.
once again, nobody here appreciates your posts, why dont you go find some other place to spread your shit? seriously... get the fuck out of here you fucking troll. its assholes like you that destroy places like this so get the fuck out you unwelcome asswipe.

LMAO! Typical response from a mouth-breather!
I pointed out that your declaration that McNabb "was certainly a Childress" move was WRONG. I used no profanity, called you no names and your response was just like a petulant, spoiled 5 year old. yep, as I noted in the other post, i was thinking that mcnabb was chillys last year, but I was wrong.
I still contend that the team is improving under Rick and Zim, even if it doesnt show in the standings, nobody can say the team isnt better now than it was 3 years ago, and seemingly improving every year. seriously bro, what position is weaker now than it was 3 years ago? across the board I think we are improved and the best part is we are doing it with younger guys, not a bunch of 30 somethings that are on the doorstep of retirement.
Zim has improved this team, yes. The D went from being ranked in the 30s to a ranked in the top 10. Z knows D, but we struggle on offense. No matter how well Sam throws the ball... if he can't play, it doesn't matter. Next man up, and isn't that how you gauge a team? How good is it if its starters get dinged. Can they win without them? Sam-less, we're 1-1. Now we shall see how the team is built at the RB position with Cook going down. If you have a good game plan and back up you should be able to beat a bad team... if you're a good team. Are the Vikings a good team? We'll find out Monday night.
Teams need those 30 something guys to calm everyone down... to be "on field" coaches. Like BRob, he is missed when he's not on the field, someone needs to step up and be that guy who does his job and makes sure everyone else does theirs. To give little hints about the opposition play. A mix of vets and young guys are needed... the browns have the youngest roster in the NFL this year and the second youngest last year. They are 1-19 during that time. The Rams had been the youngest 2013-2016 and their record during that time was, 24-40. They are off to a hot start this year, but we know how fast that can change. For me the jury is still out on how improved we are this year. But I can say all of Ricks moves and trades since 2011 have produced 2 playoff appearances and 0 wins. And one of those(2012 season) was vs the Pack where we started Joe Webb at QB.... Joe freaking Webb. My Dad passed in June 2013 having never seen a Viking Super Bowl victory.... maybe I'm tired of hearing,,, next year Rick will get it right. The Vikings are spending millions of dollars for mediocre results and multiple "hey maybe next year"... I think there are good reasons for Rick to be in trouble. Unlike the article says. If coaches can be on a hot seat for poor results,,, so can GMs.

I agree that he should be under scrutiny, but that scrutiny should look at the entire picture and that includes the massive amounts of injuries and the fact that the team was old when he took the wheel and in need of a youth movement, we went young and are starting to see the benefits, I am not worried about where we are right now as the injuries can't continue.
You bring up the browns, I raise you the Packers. ..they were the youngest team a few years ago and stumbled a bit, but they didn't fire everybody, good teams don't make changes often. They stay the course and look for small improvements which we have seen.
If rick goes who do you replace him with? Who does he hire as a coach? How long does abother regime change set us back again?
Get the QB right and everything falls into place. Or not as has been the case with the Vikings most seasons since Pepp went down.
Rick has been here since Moses was a pup.... He's had plenty of time to show his worth. Can't get involved in who to replace him with as I don't follow other football GM's on indeed. But if someone is in a bad relationship they shouldn't just stay because "it could be worse" elsewhere. Also fairly sure the Wilfs have a say on who coaches the Vikings... not Rick, coach wouldn't have to be replaced just because Rick goes. I don't like the idea of switching coaches and staff every three years, but Rick has been here since '06 and in charge since '11. Continuity is important no doubt, but if things aren't working... a change is needed. We've finished last in our division 4 times from 1961 to 2005 and 3 times from 2006 to 2016 under Rick's watch. Since 2011 the Vikings are 46-53-1, matching the franchise worse 3-13 record. 3 losing seasons, 2 winning seasons, and 1 soccer season. I am not happy with that. Zim is improving the team coaching wise. Rick,,, I'm not so sure.

So we are stuck with Rick until Zim either wins the Super Bowl or goes down in flames.... because he was never given the talent he needed.... awesome,.... no wonder coaches want to be GMs too.
