Had a friend who had me take a picture of him standing on the corner of Speer and Colfax, dressed in a suit, holding a sign that read "Will Art Direct for Food." He didn't get a job from that. In fact, he was chased off by one the "regulars" who thought he was moving in on his spot. But all's well that ends well. 20 years later, he's now a senior-level Creative Director in Boston making bank. The friend, not the regular.

I know that corner of Speer Blvd and Colfax well, from the ten years I lived in Colorado.
That is a funny story though, and a creative approach to getting a job as an Art Director...(also resonates with me...my first education after high school was in Commercial Art...I get it!)
