Pacheko to Kitties

The Detroit Lions have agreed to a deal with Isiah Pacheco, giving the team a new running back to pair with Jahmyr Gibbs, a source told ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Pacheco will fill the void left when the Lions agreed to trade David Montgomery to the Houston Texans last week.

Pacheco, 27, was the Kansas City Chiefs' starting running back for much of his time in the past four seasons. In 13 games last season, Pacheco finished with 462 rushing yards and two total touchdowns.

Not sure if that's an upgrade or a downgrade. I think I'd say they made par.

Good enough for change of pace with Gibbs.

Injury Impact: Following a broken leg in Week 2 of 2024, there were concerns about his effectiveness, but as of 2025/2026, he remained a key part of the Chiefs' offensive rotation, balancing his role with other backs like Kareem Hunt.

Value: He is generally considered a solid, physical back who has improved his all-around game to include crucial passing-down responsibilities.

But...Check this out from Chiefs Kingdom:

Season/Carries/Yards Per Carry/Yards Per Game

2022/170/4.9/48.8
2023/205/4.6/66.8
2024/83/3.7/44.3
2025/118/3.9/35.5

I live in Chiefs country... Pacheco is a massive downgrade from 2024 Monty. I'd take 2026 Monty over 2026 Pacheco too.

The Chiefs RBs have been so bad that they just gave a giant bag of money to Kenneth Walker III.
