So...this is why JJ is going to be QB1 in 2026. Just take a look at the throws here, some with touch. Some with just straight up arm. Its really hard to find a QB that has the full arsenal, all the bullets. He's so athletic and mobile. Again, we all know I'm the resident fanboy for JJM. But with incremental improvement, he can make every throw a top-shelf NFL QB needs to make. Its there...and the fiery leadership. His teammates love him. No way KOC gives up on this for 2026...absolutely no way. JMO.

I'm not as convinced as you that JJ is QB1 in 26, but I do think it might be the most likely. Depends on who else they bring in.
I love the pass to Hockenson in the end zone. He could've thrown to Jones in the flat, but it would've been blown up. JJ chose to wait a beat and hit Hock who smartly broke off his route and just stopped in the open space.
Of course you can hear Brady start to say he doesn't like it when QBs roll right and throw against their bodies, despite the fact that Patrick Mahomes does this on a weekly basis with no added commentary by anyone other than how brilliant he is.

I just don't see who they're going to bring in that would beat him out....and I don't think that's what they want or think is going to happen. JMO. Malik Willis? He's going to be in a bidding war with several teams because after Fernando Mendoza, there is a bunch of garbage in this Spring's Draft for QBs. Aaron Rodgers? Why even go there THIS season? Mac Jones? He's no Uncle Sammy for another organization. I just don't see a clear path to a real QB competition. And for god's sake get Brosmer out of QB2 territory....I think that is a done deal. Kyler Murray? I think Indy is going to push super hard to resign Daniel Jones.
That leaves guys like Anthony Richardson as a trade candidate. Ok. I think the way that Indy moved on from him is going to give a lot of teams pause unless they give him away. I'm just trying to think of a viable candidate and I can't get to one.....although I know they are going to trade/sign somebody. And its not going to be Joe Burrow, lmao. I just don't see them swinging for the fences.

Im not convinced either.
I think JJ isn't a natural passer (I've read this too) JJ is not cerebral enough for my liking he is emotional. I think because he is more emotionally driven he is weak willed. All the zen medition stuff is bothersome for me. Watching last year there was many small 101 things that he struggles with. For for this reason I'm out

I could still see a play for Richardson, especially if Indy resigns Jones and his path to recovery is in time for the season.
OTOH, they may want someone with a more proven track record in that QB room with an unproven like McCarthy.
I dont know all on that potential list, but it wont be a bunch of names that'll light the fire of many Viking fans or strike fear in the hearts of the rest of the North.

I've watched that footage a lot, then compared it with "lowlights", and I think that JJM will separate himself from possible competition quickly this season...
...emphasis on "think".
Admittedly, JJM looked every bit of his youth on occasion, and flashed more 'tude than judgement at those times. As annoying as that is, the "dawg" in his makeup has a quality many of us have pined for since "BUrt Fah-vrah" left: the ability to rally players beyond reason. Favre admitted, repeatedly over the years, that his receivers made heroic plays out of bad ideas. He'd be about to get creamed, see a flash of a receiver's jersey, and unload the ball with a prayer that it'd end up in the right hands. Obviously, it worked many times, but also cost him and his teams as well.
If...and it's a huge "IF"...the kid lives up to his own hype, showed the dogged (dawgged?) work ethic and effort that he's often praised for, works an the mechanics, matures a good bit, and really learns from last year's footage, all doubts will be addressed early and often. I actually love the focus and the determination, but I'll also suggest that youth plus pressures plus injuries plus fatherhood was too much for a 22 year old kid to reasonably deal with.
He's got all the desired arm, though the Kurt Warner "not a natural passer" label will be tough to shake. He's got a family building, which helps keep him from "Addison" behaviors. He's got the most supportive coach imaginable, and his skill players show constant solidarity. His biggest concerns are indirect, as both KAM and KOC have to be feeling enormous pressure with all of the coach/GM firings that have gone on.
JJM, KOC, and KAM are all on very warm chairs. We won't know how well they respond (ok, the draft will show how KAM responds) until Autumn, but I have no interest in yet another reboot, so my hopes ride again with the people we have, rather than pining for people we don't.
KOC, JJM, Flores...make a good plan, or you'll be following Kwesi....

Agree. Jones was hurt on December 7th, a date which will live in infamy (for Indy). So we're talking about a late-season achilles tear. Colts are saying he should be ready for training camp, but I think that's wildly optimistic.

A name that came up last year as a potential backup to JJM, which I think we may start seeing again is Will Levis.
