Bright spot: Dallas Turner

They were the same two things I noted: very young and undersized. He came to TC bigger and stronger. He flashed Sunday. Maybe its the start of something. I don't feel confident about it, but its not like I've never been wrong before. Would love to see him pop.

He is very much a young player still growing into his body. He will look different a year or two down the road. Still only 22 years old and won't turn 23 until February. When he gets that "grown man" strength and figures things out a little more...watch out

Turner's definitely better going forward than backward. He now has more sacks per snap than Jared Verse does...this year.

Saw that in a stat today. It is still too early, but he has his spot where Greenard is. Ive stood my ground the whole time that I believe He was a better pick than Verse. Would rather have Dallas and I won't ever back down from that.

Dallas Turner: ‘Still taking steps’

Outside linebacker Dallas Turner played well while starting for the injured Jonathan Greenard, who missed his first Vikings start against Chicago because of a left shoulder injury suffered Nov. 9 against Baltimore.

Turner helped force the Bears’ second three-and-out drive to start the game when he tackled wide receiver Luther Burden III for a 3-yard loss in the first quarter. He was a disruptive pass rusher with a team-high five pressures that included three hits on the Bears’ Caleb Williams, whom Turner called a “Houdini-like” quarterback.

Williams spun away from Turner early in the game, but Turner sacked him in the fourth quarter.

“It’s gonna take more than one person to bring him down,” said Turner, who has 2½ sacks this season. “But I feel like the front seven, we did our best in order to contain him.”

Turner, the 17th overall pick out of Alabama in 2024, said he’s feeling “a big difference” from his rookie season.

“It’s a steady progression,” Turner said. “Still taking steps, still learning from the vets.”

at this point with Turner, I am not going to call him a bust, but I view those picks that were used to take him as poorly spent and basically have written them off. Whatever we get from Turner before he hits FA in 2-3 years will be like frosting on a shit sandwich.... better than just the sandwich.

Turner has 20 pounds and 2 inches on Williams, but he needs more help to bring him down?  Not impressed with him on any level, tired of his age as an excuse, he played 3 years and 42 games at Alabama which is a personnel factory for the NFL and now in his 2nd year where with injuries he has gotten a lot of first team reps here.  He almost cost us the game with what should have been a bonehead roughing the passer penalty one of several head scratching plays by him this year.   Decent player for a 3rd round pick, but for the 17th pick in the draft plus a 3rd, 4th and 5th, he is no where near the value of what we gave up.

we gave up a 2025 3rd round pick and 2025 4th round. That is not a whole lot when you break it down. We exchanged a 3rd and 4th in exchange for a 1st round pick. A first round pick talent that should have went 8 that I am guessing the Falcons would love to have at this moment. You know, the shitty QB you loved that has had like 5 ACL surgeries in as many years.

Even if you take every QB off the board,   that still doesn't get Turner up to 8th from where he was taken.  It was a terrible use of draft picks even if Turner had been more pro ready,  we had already added Gink and Greenard so all those picks for a developmental player not at position of need is a waste of picks when the real value of first rounders is contributing talent on a cheap contract.

The trade with Houston was made for a trade up for Drake Maye. The organization correctly identified Maye as the best QB in that class. They then developed a plan via the trade with Houston to move up to draft him. By all reports, they tried to execute that trade up. But NE wisely rebuffed ours (& reportedly the NYG) efforts to trade up & drafted Maye.

Clearly, the plan wasn't to trade those picks for Turner although that ended up being the result.

He's obviously not referring to his size. He's referring to his elusiveness and escapability.
