I was just listening to Rich Gannon talking about the game on NFL Radio. Apparently it was the first time in 16 years a team has committed 8 or more false starts playing at home. Said a lot had to do with McCarthy's inconsistent cadence and the Ravens defensive line barking out line shifts just prior to the ball being snapped. Said it's not legal to do that and the line judge should have been notified that's what they were doing to watch things a little closer. If that's what happened, KOC should have made the refs aware. Just a weird f'n game. Watching this team and the ugliness in which they play and conduct their business week in and week out is maddening.

On one of those long interceptions, I think it was the first one, Jets was open but JJ threw it late. Maybe that was Jefferson out there yesterday and not Jets!

The one where he stepped up in the pocket and fired it into double coverage? That looked like a bad throw, safety was camping on that, ball sailed.

Why was McCarthy asked to throw the ball 42 times, in a one score game, the most he has ever thrown in a game in his career. Either Kwesi or KOC needs to own up to the fact that they signed Jordan Mason to run the ball and refuse to use him. Third and 1 and they throw the fucking home run ball to a disinterested receiver, best in the game, but still disinterested in yesterdays game. Just stupid play calling on KOC.

Looks like Greenard will be ok, KOC said he likely practice this week. That is good news, he was in lots of pain.

That is good, although I wouldn't mind seeing Turner start the rest of the year to evaluate him much like we are evaluating McCarthy in extended playing time. I actually thought Turner flashed a little yesterday and the personal foul on his sack was total bullshit. Dick Butkus is rolling over in his grave every NFL weekend

Yeah, that's the one. He threw it way too late. He was kind of scrambling forward on the play and saw Jets open down the field and threw it, but by the time the ball got there he was double covered. A very common rookie mistake!

Yep. All rookies need to do this in the NFL to realize that you CAN'T do that in the NFL. Its a process. I think a few fans that say 'JJ isn't a rookie' are seriously forgetting that he didn't throw a football the WHOLE year he was injured. He didn't run a scout team. He did none of the things that Brosmer is doing right now. No reps. He IS a rookie.
I would hope in JJ's Year 5 season he's playing a hell of a lot better than Jordan Love. That's what $55 million a year gets you today?

- Mason is struggling in pass-pro. Whiffed on Hamilton giving up a huge pressure and knockdown by Hamilton
- Refs seemed to favor Baltimore. I know we jumped 8 times. But calling it on a QB? When does that ever happen? At one point late in the game Baltimore only had 1 penalty for 5 yards.
- False starts at home? Something was up with JJ's cadence. Either he was just amped and barking louder, or we were trying to get Balt to jump. Whatever the case, it wasn't working.
- Jefferson seemed disinterested. Seemed almost lethargic, getting tripped up on that deep INT and then not hustling.
- Absolutely no issue with the deep shot on 3rd and 1. Jefferson 1-1 with no safety? Who wouldn't take a shot on that matchup? Those criticizing that play are hiding behind the 20/20 hindsight or just don't understand football. How often do we complain that coaches don't go for the kill shot? That was a kill shot and a great call. Didn't work out, but it was still a great call.
- Our run game seems better, should have leaned on it more, but I really don't think play calling was the issue here.
- The INT was a big moment, but the fumble on the kick return was bigger. Short field, the D rallied so many times holding them to FGs, but couldn't stop this one.
- Wonder where Price's head is at going forward. Fumbled the next return as well.
- Nailor stepped up in a big way. That 4th down catch where he double clutched it was huge. The TD was a thing of beauty.
- How many tipped balls did our D just miss? I think there were 3 that had potential, but just fell short. Could have been a huge difference
- But the D played a tremendous game IMO. Van Ginkel is such a great player. Causes the other team so many issue.
Agree completely at the bold. I wanted to be mad about it and I was for a second. Then I realized 3rd and 1 (actually more like 3rd and a foot) at midfield. Obvious 4-down situation. Taking a shot to JJ in single coverage was a good idea.
I do think, however, that KOC tends to trust McCarthy a little too much. He plays him like he would play Cousins or Darnold. I don't think he's quite ready for that.

I'm concerned for Price, too, because he was money up 'til yesterday.
Totally agreed on Nailor.
The impression I got from the game and post-game interviews was that the Ravens were calling out their defensive adjustments in sudden loud bursts. It's actually a penalty for defenses to mimic the cadence or yell "hike" in an attempt to draw false starts. But there's nothing wrong with calling out your defensive adjustments in a way that mimics the cadence.
