Oh boy.....'core principle work'

JJ will start Sunday if he is healthy. If not, he sits. It's really that simple!

I’m not saying he’s the Josh Rosen of his draft class…but he’s not exactly inspiring confidence at the moment. Still early…kinda

I'd be surprised about two things: 1. If JJ is healthy enough to start this weekend. And 2. If JJ McCarthy doesn't start when he's fully healthy.

He shed his walking boot one week after the injury which implies his high ankle sprain was lower grade.  He's been rehabbing for 4 weeks which is on the low end of recovery time for a high ankle sprain.  And then KOC is saying he needs a full week of practice (what if he's limited today or tomorrow?) before he'll start...  it feels like KOC is being way too cautious.  It's the NFL, guys get banged up and aren't ever 100% after Week 1.  If he's still that injured he can't protect himself or throw effectively, then sure hold him out.  If not, play the kid.

Kevin O’Connell said JJ McCarthy, Josh McCown and himself worked on “core principals” of the position during the bye week. They also looked at what was causing him to maybe feel the ankle while playing

O’Connell said it was part rehab, part football acclimation to make up for time lost. McCarthy hasn’t practiced since Week 2

“It’s not just getting him back and throwing him out there, it’s a little more real than that.”

O’Connell said he won’t keep the QB secret for Sunday and that it’s possible McCarthy returns.

I assumed that he was out there more on the practice field while over in Dublin/Ireland.
This is a tell that the high ankle sprain was worse than they let on.
I for one do not believe that he is 100%, and a smart QB whisperer is not going to throw him out there not 100% healthy and unprepared ("core principals"?)  when he has a suitable QB 2 that has already won games for us.

The healed or not takes precedence week to week. But schedule wise, if JJM doesn't play this week, then maybe the week after vs Chargers?

Thats a TNF game and he'd have a mini-by after that to play 11/2 at Lions.

Man, the next 3 games are a murderer's row:
Eagles
at Chargers
at Lions

Well if they keep him in bubble wrap all year he can continue to be the QBOTF plus keep the pot boiling on social media all season long!

Of course a QB of the present would be a little more useful at this point.
Social media is the structural mental illness of the 21st century
