Vikings/NFL gameday takes
#1
A win is a win, so we'll take it and get the hell out of foggy London town and into a much-needed bye week:

  • You have to tip your hat to Brandel, Huber, Skule (I guess) and even Rouse who I think played a good chunk of Q4 while Darrisaw took his mandatory rest after hitting a snap count. This was against the #1 D in the NFL. Weren't always perfect, but man they played WAY better than anyone thought and held up. Skule is a better RT backup than LT.
  • Nice play call for the TD from Akers to Oliver, beautiful.
  • The run D is concerning and I expect it to be the BFlo's weak spot for the rest of this season. I mean Judkins had open lanes for most of the day. Jon Allen seems to disappear at times.
  • I don't understand how NFL refs missed Will's kick hitting a wire, you could see it didn't travel normally in the air. B.S.
  • The TV announcing team missed so much action, so many things that were happening. Brutal. Albert and Vilma suck.
  • Very nice drive to win the game, excellent all the way around. But as much as Wentz has been mostly decent, we need JJ back in there. Carson is like a baby giraffe back there, all long limbs and slower motion. He moves a tick slower, takes a bit to wind up and throw. He's loving his moment in Minnesota, you can see it. I can't ding him too hard as he's still learning the offense, players around him, etc. but he missed some easy throws.
  • KOC stepped up and called one of his better games, good to see.
  • You're never going to be able to trust Jordan Addison 100%. Too many temptations out there in the big world for him, no matter what he says.
  • I'm not complaining, but: what the hell was Stefanski doing with those timeouts he burned late in the game? TY very much Cleveland.
  • Philly and Buffalo both went down, happens to the best of them. Turnovers: the first time in 27 games that Buffalo gave up more TOs than they got. Nix and Maye played well enough to win and sometimes that's all you need. No spectacular stats but big completions when needed. The rest of the team needs to play well also to beat teams like the Eagles and Bills. First time in a bit I really liked what I say from Drake Maye.
  • Baltimore is in free fall at 1-4.
  • When bad teams play good games: the Miami-Carolina tilt was a fun watch.
  • Uncle Sammy played so well for 80% of the game and then at the end should have had a pick 6 and then threw a horrible INT that basically lost the game for Seattle. That's the narrative for Darnold now and why Minnesota let him leave.
  • What a gut punch loss for Arizona, my god.....brutal way to lose a football game
  • I wonder how many media members will jump off the Charger's bandwagon now? Cowherd might twist an ankle getting off. Where's the big timer in Herbert?
  • Geno Smith and the Raiders....yuck.

I've heard that Addison really likes JJ, strong bond between the two of them:

#Vikings WR Jordan Addison’s plans for the bye week:

“Imma be around the building catching with JJ McCarthy, just getting ready with him.”

Arizona deserved to lose that game. They opened up the offense, threw to MHJ and moved the ball at will, scoring three early TDs. It was 21-3 early in the 2nd quarter. Harrison had 4 catches for 98 yards.

MJH never caught another pass. In fact, he was targeted just once in the 2nd half. Arizona never scored again. And yes, goddammit, as a matter of fact, he is on my fantasy team.

For Dolphins owner Stephen Ross, the question is rapidly becoming when to move off Mike McDaniel and GM Chris Grier, and how to unload Tua Tagovailoa, writes @MattVerderame

On the Browns- Holy Mike Zimmer team! I never realized it previously, but man Stefanski's team has a lot of similarities to the Mike Zimmer years in Minnesota. Gotta be deeply ironic for Stefanski to find himself in the same spot Zim did-- you got the car but not the driver.

As much as I'd love for this team to be the Chiefs or the Eagles, I'm constantly reminded things could be worse.

Penalties- I know our depth is being very tested right now but I hope they can clean all the flags up after the bye. We gotta be one of the most penalized teams in the league.

Drake Maye has continued his upward trajectory since becoming starter. Flashing loads of potential and improving in the meantime.

We are actually THE most penalized team in the NFL with 44 penalties. 9 per game. We led going into the Browns game and lead coming out as well.

The amount of penalties is crazy. It's not like we have new coaches trying to implement new schemes and we are a mostly veteran football team, so why all the penalties all if a sudden? Definitely something that needs to be cleaned up moving forward

Have a couple of good friends who are die hard Phins fans and they say the above cannot happen soon enough.    Going to have to have a flush the toilet year if you want to unload Tua.
