Secondary and Nahshon Wright
#1
Lot of open WRs all night, thought we were very lucky Williams accuracy was really poor in the 2nd half and that we were containing him in the pocket.  I just have never seen Murphy as a great cover corner which is why I would not have given him that contract, wish we gave that money to Bynum instead.  Thought he was giving up a lot of space.  We got by last night, but unless the DL puts pressure on the QB like they did last night most downs, they are not good enough as they are.

And perhaps the biggest question for the secondary is whose idea was it to cut Nahshon Wright?  6'4" CB that we traded Booth for, could not have gotten at least an invite to off season practices with the group of CBs on this roster?  Not saying he is a pro bowler, but surely he could have made this CB room.

Yeah I thought that was pretty ironic. Wright was the only thing we got from Dallas for Andrew Booth and he gets a pick six against us? Andrew Booth also had a pick six in the preseason for Dallas.

I will reserve judgement of our DBs until we see a few more games. I really feel Flores was feeling out what Ben Johnson's game plan was. They kept everything in front of them, made caleb work his way down the field. Once they got a feel for it, weathered the scripted plays, then Flores started mixing it up and bringing the heat.

I saw elsewhere that someone said Johnson had owned Flores. Well, today Flores kept the Johnson scheme in check. Other than the initial TD drive, and one drive in the 3rd, the Bears offense didn't do much.

As to Wright, that was my thought as well. 6'4"? He seemed to play fairly well. Not sure if he was a good fit here, but that is a big dude.

how do we know he was not asked to come back?
People sleep peacably at night only because rough men stand ready to do violence on their behalf.

Cut him 4/7 before the draft and any of the mini camps.  Makes no sense to not let him come in and compete and at least wait to see if you pick up anyone in the draft, which they did not.

Here's the corners that are available (ranked). Since it's after the first game, can be week to week contracts at this point. Obviously, Samuel is out until someone feels comfortable with his medicals. The team has made no indication that they have any interest in bringing Gilmore back. Fuller was a middle of the pack corner that had to go through extended Concussion protocols in 2024 due to 2 concussions in same season. Some other ex-Vikings on the list (Shelley, Dantzler, Booth) but none with ties to the current regime. Idk..it's probably a trade to shore up the cornerback position. Not really sure why we traded Blackmon away given our very empty Cornerback cupboard.

Asante Samuel Jr.
Stephon Gilmore
Kendall Fuller
Emmanuel Moseley
Nik Needham
Tony Brown
Tre Herndon
Troy Hill
Cameron Sutton
Keith Taylor
Michael Ojemudia
Arthur Maulet
Duke Shelley
Cameron Dantzler
Mike Hilton
Kendall Sheffield
Tyler Hall
Bobby Price
Daryl Worley
Michael Davis
Greg Stroman
Ka'dar Hollman
Caleb Farley
Justin Hardee
Kevin King
Stantley Thomas-Oliver
Kevon Seymour
Dicaprio Bootle
Andrew Booth
