Would a healthy Speedy be worth a fifth in a trade?
I would be happy to get Thielen I just hope they don't over pay.

We have like 4x 6th right now. It was a 5th we didn’t have.

We have a terrible db room now but we're hankering to overpay for grandpa wide out for the sake of nostalgia.

I'm personally going to wait to see how it shuffles out.  Gotta believe we're going to be bringing back an old friend or two to help us out at both WR and in the CB room.   I think we have the draft capital and cap space to add some impactful players at both.

Vikefans.com dba THE rant room.

Theilen can help us. Especially since Addison has 2 strikes and can’t find his ass with both hands and Nailor is hurt. You can’t go into the season with Lucky Jackson as your #2 WR. . F*ck dem pickS

Now the Corner sitch? Yeah it’s thin as a cigarette paper, but you can roll with that room considering our front 7 is going to terrorize QB’s, and they better.

I'd be shocked if the Vikings overpay for Thielen. I think Carolina is trying to dump him on us because they're going younger.

I think we'll add a DB, but I doubt we'll be trading for one. More likely it will be an experienced player released who fits the Flores style of defense.

At any rate, the Vikings have to be willing to move on from the Thielen idea and tell the Panthers to go dangle. There are better, younger receivers on the market. For there to be a stall in negotiations, it has to mean the Panthers are holding out for a 5th round or higher pick, which is nuts IMO.

Because no one on either side should lose any sleep over a 6th or 7th rounder. All picks are overvalued, but 6th and 7th rounders are nearly meaningless. Players taken in those rounds rarely stick, and you can recoup a 6th rounder simply by trading your 5th down about 10 spots. So I suspect this is mostly about how much of Thielen's salary is paid by the Vikings and how much is paid by the Panthers.

We can bandaid wr production for the first 3 weeks...If any OC can, its here in MN.

Now I will be a bit jittery if that DB room doesnt show some improvement in a day or 2. To me that is the far bigger opportunity.

100%!  I also think we will be running more 2 TE sets and using TJ more as a slot WR while Addison is out.  The CBs are also where I am concerned, I am not sold on Rogers and Okudah is a big question mark, Blackmon was thought of as the next man up and now that he is gone there is really not anyone else who you could depend on playing quality minutes.

You guys need to stop looking at Thielen as a 3 week bandaid. If you bring Thielen in, you are bringing in a WR3 for the whole year, who can do time at WR2 or WR1 if need be. We wouldn’t be looking at Thielen if it was only for weeks 1-3. The only way Thielen makes sense is if your suspect on our WR depth as a whole. I have to imagine that we’re looking at Moore being out for the year, Felton not really blossoming, and Lucky Jackson not being a dependable guy, and we’re like we pretty much are rolling with 3 WR for the season. If Nailor’s hand is seriously questionable, now we’re talking about being down to 2 WR for the season and 1 WR for the first 3 weeks. Thielen would mitigate a lot of question marks, plus he’s already practiced with JJM, and already knows the system.

That said, I totally agree that CB is a more serious concern (team-wise), but keeping your young QB surrounded by a quality support system is a very viable concern as well.
