Vikings Got Lucky

He's a hell of a story if you do a dive on him. Easy guy to root for.
The Vikings seem to have a 'type' the last 3+ year with KAM and KOC: Around 6 feet tall, give or take, not small but not big. Leaner. Not slow but not speed burners either (except for Tai Felton, he'll be the fastest WRer on the team). No complaints from this fan on the brainpower selection at WRer for the team, but Minnesota has always been the gold standard historically for having great WRers. If Lucky can step into situations that he's called on, which won't be many, and get open and catch the football....great. Its all about stepping up for the bottom of the roster when called upon. Agree, always great to root for guys like this and would love to see him do well.
One of the guys I am most interested in seeing tomorrow is Felton, with not a lot of picks was surprised to see them go WR and really hope that we hit on this pick.

He seems to have been taking advantage of the opportunities in camp with JJ out.

Easy guy to root for. the emphasis is on route running, precise depths, precision cuts, and catching the ball with the hands and not the body. you can draft speed, but you can take that away, you can draft size, but again can be neutralized fairly easily, but precision work and disciplined receivers can be about as close to impossible to cover as they come, as long as the QB is accurate and can throw with anticipation.
Why isn't Chuck Foreman in the Hall of Fame?

I remember thinking in the 2020 draft that he wasn't the biggest, he wasn't the fastest, but he was versatile. And there was nothing he didn't do well. I'll take those guys over the height/weight/speed guys every time. People get infatuated with speed. Will Fuller. Where's he? Corey Coleman, John Ross, Ruggs, Williamson...it's an endless list.

All the WRer backups take one step forward as Rondale Moore is gone for the year. Guys are always going to get injured, so I try and mitigate it by assessing how important that particular person was/is to their positions: Moore's absence will not be a blow IMO. And I think the 3rd string center broke his ankle, so however unfortunate that is for the young man, it doesn't really move the needle of concern. From a human level, non-fan perspective its brutal for these guys: lots of hard work and dreams go up in flames. My empathy is there for them. But like I say, you have to mitigate it because its a part of the game.
Myles Price looked pretty good, I wonder if he might get a role? Similar type to Moore, probably not as fast. |
