WR Rondale Moore visiting with Minnesota
#31
I’m a little skeptical on Nailor being a defacto WR3, given that we just brought in two legit speedsters and in my mind Nailor duplicates JJ and Addisons skillsets more than compliments them. I kind of think that they want a deep threat that can make defenses have to make a choice with their safeties of doubling JJ vs defending the deep ball. If Moore or Felton can grow into that, I think they’ll be given the opportunity to do that on a regular basis. I do like Moore as a gadget guy. If he can get 500 scrimmage yards on “gadget” plays, I think that will go a long ways for the offense with a young QB.

Given that, can the team affford to keep both on the active roster? If not, it seems to me that Felton has the advantage by virtue of the team drafting him in the 3rd round. I don't see the team waiving Felton.

No, they won't waive Felton, but the Vikings typically keep 5 WRs active. So I see all 5 making the active roster. I just have a hunch Felton was drafted because KOC likes what a player like that offers to his offense. I think it will be Moore this year and Felton next.

Two of those WRs can't run a conventional route tree or at least they haven't yet shown that they can. If they keep Tim Jones who they signed to replace Sheffield on STs as WR6 then half of the WR corps haven't shown the ability to run a route tree.

Out of that group, you also need to find a punt returner. Jones has never returned punts as a pro. Moore hasn't returned punts since the 2021 season. In 4 years at Maryland, Felton had only 2 punt returns. Both last season. Nailor's lone attempt at a punt return almost cost us a game in GB.

My point is unless one of these WRs step up bigly as a punt returner in camp, the WR corp isn't as cut & dry as fans think that it is.

I think our returners will be among Nailor, Chandler, Rodgers and Bolden. And at least three of those guys will already be on the roster.
