Week 1, Monday Night Football, Vikings at Bears, Bears -1.5
I've got $50 burning a hole in my pocket, I'll take the points. Also week 1, Lions at Packers, could be interesting. Go Pack?

I probably won't bet on the Vikings until I see what JJ McCarthy looks like for a few games. But I'm definitely betting on them to win the Super Bowl. OK, sure, I do that almost every year just for the fun of it, but this year I'm going to put quite a bit more on the line.

When the playoffs start, I bet on the opponent to win the game. If the Vikings lose, I get a bag (money). If the Vikings win, I win the emotional bet, glad to lose the money. If the Vikings win the SuperBowl, meaning I lost up to 4 bets in a row, it'll be worth any amount of money that I lost. I won a bag last year when the Rams beat the Vikings. I would have gladly lost the bet for the Vikings to win. "Like Larry Wildman going off a cliff in my brand new Maserati." The Vikings may be not be running out of years, but I am.

You don't want the double rush of a Viking win and also winning the bet? I'm the opposite. I only bet on Viking games, and only on games I feel good about, and then only on games where we're the underdog. Last two years, the only games I bet on were the '23 and '24 49er games. We were 6 point underdogs in both. We won both. So that was a nice little payday.

Money well spent. Just one before my days are over.

That's actually a pretty favorable line for Minnesota considering the mystery that is JJ McCarthy at this point.

Any betting experts on this board? Just went on my betting site (BetMGM) to up the stake on the Vikings winning the Super Bowl and saw that the line went from +3500 when I placed the bet back in May to +2500 now. First, wow. Second, if I edit the bet, it will be at the new odds, lowering my potential winnings, so I want to keep that bet as it is. But can I make a new, separate bet on the same thing or will the new bet cancel out the original bet? I guess basically what I'm asking is can you make multiple bets on the same thing? —Curious in Colorado

I'm certainly not an expert, and I've never used BetMGM, but I'm sure you can. When you click on a game or outcome that you want to bet, most sites will pop-up a betting slip or ticket. When you enter the amount you want to bet, most sites will show you the amount you'll win or lose. This is the point that the site that I use will tell you any limits they've placed on this bet. Or maybe call BetMGM.
DriaftKings still have the Vikings at -3000 to win the Super Bowl, so maybe consider opening up an account there to get significantly better odds. They also allow you to bet at halftime of any game, which I find easier to do once you get to see which team shows up for the day, the motivated Vikings or the "I wish I'd stayed at home" Vikings. |
