It's a big deal to some, but nothing to those it doesn't affect, that's Iowa. That's why the budget was held hostage in a super-majority senate, the budget was going to pass, procedural roadblocks stopped it till an eminent domain law was passed. We have been a one party state for over a decade and not very complicated, Ethanol, CAFO, subsidies, and we are God luvin Patriots. ED is someone else's problem, till it isn't, then you don't wanna use that gun because local Sheriffs Dept are up armored like their patrolling Mosul. The Mississippi of the Midwest and going 3rd world for a buck.

It was quite a Senate debate, they, the extreme right wing held her ED budget, till they got the bill passed. She is not running again so I expect she will create the theater for her replacement and not sign the bill which will also satiate the stakeholder.
You called it, read today it got the veto stamp

Yep, keep your ears open for the name Bruce Rastetter, I suspect you'll be seeing more of him or his minions around Pierre as it plays out up there.

theres been no shortage of him and his minions, 2 years ago ( before we got organized as a voter base for land owner rights) he had over 12 full time big money lobbyists at our capital for the entire legislative season. I am not talking about retired politicians, or old lawyers just wanting a winter job, I am talking new york city, $5k suits and everything that comes with that kind of effort. That was really when we started championing the phrase SD is not for sale (even though it was very apparent some of our elected officials definitely were)
I am afraid that we are going to get steam rolled sooner or later, whats funny is our few democrats up here were actually voting with the RINO Republicans on measures that challenged landowner rights I never quite got that one figured out this year, but in a small rural state it might just be party leadership for the minority goes to church with a RINO and whipped his team that way.

I am afraid it comes down to wealth and opposition by who's owned. Remember I mentioned the theater around the Eminent Domain bill here, today we got the first act. Pat Grassley, house speaker and grandson to Chuck (Iowa family Value) created a petition to bring back the legislature to override the Veto, but the Senate majority leader won't back it. They are using the same line to mean two different things. No, Don't, Stop and No, Don't stop. Even though there are super majorities in both bodies and the votes to override it. Next years issue is being setup as we speak, streamlining government by getting rid of county governments.

WOW! The Illinois governor was pushing legislation this year to force townships under a certain size to dissolve or merge with neighboring townships. Local rule and grass roots gov't is what makes this country so great, taking away local control is only going to hasten the downfall of our gov't structure as it will create even more apathy towards the system, which is pretty hard to do IMO.
