JJ McCarthy Press Conference: 'I know I'm ready to start'
#11
The kid's likely tired of all the reminders of what's waiting in September: a team coming off a 14 win season, the best WR (and best tandem) in the league, a wildly improved defense, wildly improved o-line protection, and so on...

...but, all eyes will be on him when our center snaps the ball.

It's unfair, but I'm glad he's apparently stepping right into it. Living up to the expectations for those first games will do answer most of the questions by October.
Wishing a great season for the team, Especially Mundt and Kwenkeu! Big Grin

I think you guys forget that this ain't his first rodeo in front of the media.
The Michigan, Big 10 and NCAA college media can be fairly brutal.

In his three years at Michigan, the Wolverines won three Big Ten titles and made three CFP semifinal appearances. McCarthy finished his college career with a 27–1 record (.964) as a starting quarterback, the highest winning percentage in NCAA Division I Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) history.

I can't begin to explain how happy I am for this to finally happen. I feel like we have been waiting for this what seems like forever. He definitely has it all. I am glad that KOC is kicking the narrative and just rolling with his guy.

I love that Eisen is all in on KOC and JJ McCarthy. That said, I disagree with the one guys take that the Vikings didn't do enough around him this year. I think the Vikings have done a tremendous job of building a team to support a young QB. He has a good defense, great weapons, and a rebuilt OL.

Much better surrounding than most young QBs get.

I thought they were talking about Qb2 specifically?

Yes. He's referring to the QB room.

I think the QB2 debate is largely due to the lack of a "sexy" resolution, similar to the bad draft grades largely because we drafted a little...obviously.

We didn't make sexy headlines with insane trades, didn't drag A-a-ron into our locker room (thanks be to the Allfather!), didn't get any of the "newsworthy" QBs like Russell Wilson, etc.

The Vikings are behaving like they just had a 14-3 season, are building around their young QB, and trying to only fix what needs fixing. That's not sexy for the press...but it could be damned sexy with results.....

Aaaaaaah, done more behind him as in the QB room...  well you could say that about a lot of teams.
