Are the Giants geniuses or idiots? Obviously too early to tell for sure, but we've got opinions. Not sure this kid has the game to go off script or make plays outside a messy pocket. A dreaded 'game manager'?

I think the Giants forced a QB pick and will regret it. I still like Shedeur as QB2 in a weak class. Accuracy and processing trump arm strength. I don't know if Shedeur is a great processor, but he's very accurate. Dart has a better arm, but you'd be hard pressed to say he does anything better than what Shedeur put on tape in college.

For real. To think, JJ would have been the first QB taken and it would have never been in question.

Thought that where and how the Giants got him it was a great gamble. They didn't give up too much to move back up. Would have been different if they used the 3rd pick in draft, but they used that to get possibly the best player in the draft, so think they had some room to take a shot latter in the round. Daboll did a great job developing Josh Allen and it could be a great spot for Dart. If Sanders didn't have the name, do not think he would be higher than a 3rd in this draft, not great arm strength or quick decision making and also brings a circus with him.
A lot of people didn't like the Nix pick last year calling him a game manager as well, but that worked out pretty well for them. I really like Dart, he has a lot of the grittiness that Nix has that think he can develop into a solid pro.

It may work out it may not but they have no one else to play quarterback so these are the gambles you take in that position. Smart move by them last night I’d say, but lots of dumb moves got them in this spot.

That's just it though, I wouldn't call this a good move. He's not a first round QB. He's a Drew Lock type prospect.
Jalen Milroe will probably end up being the best value pick at QB given where he'll go. His floor is lower than Shedeur or Dart, but his ceiling is much higher if he can put it all together.

Based on recent history, they would not be considered geniuses. But they made a choice and time will tell how it works out

Like if you think he’s garbage, using a draft pick on him is a waste of a draft pick. If you think he has some chance to succeed, the amount they paid is not crazy. What would be super dumb is investing that in Dart and then sticking by that for 6 years instead of bringing in some competition as he struggles along. Time is a bigger limiting factor than picks or money when it comes to QBs. It’s easy to waste a decade trying to get a one or two mediocre QBs across the line.
