Regardless, a strong take considering the money Atlanta just threw down. Not in a million years do I put QB in Atlanta.

Penix was my guy as his deep ball was a great fit for our O. Medical history was a huge concern. Maye was never going to make it to 11 so I never looked too deep into him. Williams was and still is a hard no for me. Bears fans are in for more disappointment as Nail boy doesn't fit what Johnson wants to do.

JJ took me awhile to come around on. Early Day 2, no problem. 11, then eventually 10 was understandable but still too rich until he got into the preseason game. It's all there. If he really grew 2" I'd like to see him get up to 225-230. I can teach him how.

I think all of that thought process was very normal. Many draft sites changed their tune on McCarthy after the Combine because some dumb wrong shit was out there about his physical attributes. I liked Penix and still do, but JJM was my top choice of all the QBs and I was consistent throughout on him.

Yes you were.  Penix was my first choice,  but JJM became an equal after I heard the reports pre draft from his interview with KOC.  Nix just has an aura about him that says to me he will do whatever he needs to do to succeed.

Most on this board know it already, but he' is going to take his lumps year 1

I have no idea how much a roller coaster it'll be, but he wont look like he did PS game 1 vs a very vanilla Raider D week in and week out.

He's still really young, that frame screams 215 to me.

He'll play right at 220 lbs. Its the perfect weight. Like you said when you saw him live, he's thicker than you thought.

Now I gotta go see pre-season games again because of him...

I was so used to blowing those off over the seasons.

We got nice season tix, when USB opened these seats were about $1100 for the year, now they are $1500.

Too expensive to give em away anymore.

What a year for QBs last year.....crazy good. JJ is 2 1/2 to 3 years younger than the guys that were selected in his class. If the Vikings hit on him, he's going to be the QB in Minnesota for a long time. Jaxson Dart is only a few months younger than McCarthy. Cam Ward is older. Sanders a year older.

And it would have been so Vikings to be on the prowl for a QB this year instead of 24.

Always the bridesmaid.

Yes it would. But call it synchronicity, serendipity, whatever, it all seems to be falling into place. The GM, the coach, the culture, the roster revolution, the franchise QB, the ledger dripping with cap space. Doesn't mean we're going to win a Super Bowl, but we've made a lot of very good decisions that should put us in position to be very good for another 3-5 years.

4 weeks ago talking guard....replace Booker's name with Donovan Jackson and my original post is spot on with what both KOC and KAM said in their pressers after the selection. The premise the exact same. Major kudos to KAM and KOC here. I love this pick. It wasn't just O'Connell blowing off steam at the end of the year presser, he had had enough with the interior offensive line letting this team down. They seriously want to play with the NFC's elite. This will be the best line they've had in 16 years, maybe better.

KOC mentioned in last night's presser he can now play the full playbook. Expect more running, its something he's always wanted to do but couldn't being hamstrung with the shit interior he inherited. I knew damn well the Vikings weren't going to grab a RB at this spot, you've got Thunder and Lightning now with AJ and Mason. They basically ran to the podium with Jackson's name, in under like 3 minutes? Didn't trade down and they could have. Says everything about how they feel about having an ELITE line, not just a very good one. Brandel sucks and I've said as much.....if he didn't, they wouldn't be sticking and picking with Jackson and I'm damn glad they did.

Beautiful. Like I said, don't make the offense more like Michigan for JJ, make it more like Michigan because its just a hell of an offense that takes wills. I applaud you, Viking's organization. You DO know what it takes to win in the playoffs. You now have the line for it.
