Pro Days of all things. Especially choreographed to make the QB look like gold. Now the media is gushing all over Shedeur Sander's 'shining' at the 'Colorado Showcase'. Sigh. Every single NFL QB prospect who's had a Pro Day has looked 'awesome'. Johnny Manziel was said to have one of the 'best Pro Days in the history of Pro Day's', lmao that's an actual quote.
I said over a year ago that I really liked Sanders as a prospect: he's tough in the pocket, accurate, decent mobility. His arm however is very average to maybe below average for a NFL starter. He's smallish. If he's QB2 behind Ward it'll be one of the worst QB2s in recent Draft memory strictly on potential. Maybe he becomes a good pro, its not impossible. But that arm is not an 'outside' arm. And he'll be playing a shitload of games outside if he's drafted by the Giants.

There's definitely an online cottage industry propping itself up reporting on Pro Days, but the vast majority of fans don't care or are even aware of Pro Days. The other things you mention like the Draft, etc. for sure, super nova red hot and popular. Rumors, breaking news, etc. incredibly popular. The NFL is King by a mile. But getting any value from QBs in shorts throwing a football on campus to music against air where everything is scripted is really goofy and a way for the sports media to fill the news cycle. Its silly honestly, lol. Hell, 99.9% of NFL fans don't go anywhere near their favorite team's messageboard. We are freaks! In a good way.

I suspect that over time, the combine will just go away and we'll be left with nothing but Pro Days. Each of these will be big, televised events packaged, promoted and tightly controlled by the agents.

I don't disagree to some extent. You see less players do less things at the Combine now. I think at the very least what it will do is have players that normally wouldn't be invited to the Combine now will.....and that will help them. Not sure it goes away, but it will be different I think.

I totally disagree. They’ve got fans showing up now in increasing numbers. It’s another money maker and if there’s one thing the NFL loves it’s additional revenue streams. I think it will continue to grow.
What I do see happening is the conference wide pro days expanding. Another made for tv event. College GMs, yes there’s GMs now due to NIL impact, will seek to monetize this.

What's disappointing to me is the thing that used to make the Combine great is all the prospects working out on a level playing field to compete against each other. Now none of the top prospects work out, everybody cherry picks the testing the want to do, and the amount of prospects just opting out of the 40 anymore sucks. Is it going to come to the point where we are going to have to start paying prospects to work out? These guys haven't even turned pro yet, but just like the pros, the players and agents call all the shots. Gil Brandt is rolling over in his grave
