Just a heads up that on BetMGM, and likely your betting site of choice, the Vikings odds to win the division are the longest of all four teams. Get in now.
And I was surprised to see that you can now bet on the draft. Maybe you always could, but I'm kinda new to this. Odds on the position of the Vikings first pick:
CB +175
OL +210
S +360
DL +360
I'd say those are reasonably accurate. But all the way down, past LB and TE is RB at +2500. Sure, while I think trading for Mason moved RB down the list of needs, I don't think it should be THAT far down. You can put $20 on RB and win $520.

One month from today, I believe.
I'm going to guess that the ease and ability to bet on so many things via an app on your phone isn't exactly helping gambling addicts.

I think that every time I see a Draft Kings commercial...I love gambling and I adore Vegas, but it can be a big problem for some no doubt.

I'm happy I don't have that gene. My son does. Gets it from his mom, whom I couldn't pry away from the Poker machines in Blackhawk years ago. She gets it from her dad, who buys a dozen lottery tickets a week. As someone once said, the lotto just is a tax on the bad at math. I'm happy betting on a couple Viking futures and maybe one or two games a year I feel confident about.

Odds will move like crazy in the last 2-3 days prior to the event as real info leaks out and replaces the info you'll be getting over the next several weeks which is all bullshit fyi.
If you can find a legit source in that closing window you can score. Or if you can actually somehow deduce what a team is going to do, ditto.
Books were getting burned badly on this stuff 3-4 years ago, because they are making markets on an event where outcomes can be known prior. As a result they drastically cut limits on the bets themselves. They went from taking thousands to taking hundreds or less.

I’m thinking CB will be prohibitive favorite depending on a couple medical exams.

It's not just a need; it's a position with really good value after a trade down into the 30s, which the Vikings will no doubt at least TRY to do. I'd move DT up ahead of OL tho. I know what PA said and I'm temped by all the comments about building the "maul of america." I just have a hard time seeing it over DL or Safety, given what we already pay our OL, the money we paid Brandel just a year ago, and the youth we just drafted last year in Jurgens and Rouse.

Brandel is set to make $3.4 M plus a possible $500k in incentives this season....certainly not a huge incentive to keep him in the starting lineup if a rookie first round OG was drafted. That's more nice vet iOL backup swing money than starter's money, outside some rookie contracts. That's really where Blake belongs, backing up the starting guards.

I was listening to some discussion about the new OL guys, Kelly and Fries, and how the guys next to them that they have chemistry with is so important to the overall success in either rushing or passing game.
My takeaway is that much of the season, Brandel was on an island without Darrisaw there. Cam Robinson was a piss poor excuse for a LT, and to have gotten what he did in FA ($13mm for one year), is horrifically overpriced...for what he delivered. It did not help that Brandel was between Robinson and Bradbury, on his right shoulder as we've seen.
I am forecasting that they are expecting Brandel to come back to their expectation when they signed that three year extension, given that he will have much stronger teammates on either side of him.
Which, if it plays out like that, greatly diminishes the Vikings FO need to draft an OG. Which makes the Vegas line on us taking an OL in the first round superfluous.

It's not about the amount of money as much it is about giving him a chance after committing to him for 3 years. Before Darrisaw went down he played pretty well.
I'm not going to hate taking a left guard. Part of me would be pretty jacked about it. The offseason school of thought that says you patch holes in free agency and you draft to fortify strength is a school I graduated from. Double major. Phi Tappa Kegga. Just think there are more likely positions. I think we're thinner at CB and S and our DTs are over 30.
