“Hell is empty and all the devils are here”
Shakespeare Not a fan of this new trend where a player and team are negotiating an extension/restructure and the team leaks they have granted the player permission to seek a trade. When the player hasn't actually asked for a trade. Then a few days later leak what the player is looking for, or an inflated number. Teams claim this is so a player can test the market and figure out his worth. This is simply the FO trying to save face with the fanbase and make it look like their hands were tied. Many fans are too lazy to read beyond the headline and assume its a player requesting a trade, which is going to make most fans turn on a player.

ESPN's Jordan Raanan wrote Wednesday he believes it is "pretty clear" the Giants have made Stafford their "top priority at quarterback."
The Athletic's Dan Duggan reported the Giants met with Stafford's representation at NFL Scouting Combine, which is taking place this week in Indianapolis, on Tuesday. The team and Stafford's representation will try to work out a restructured contract for the quarterback, who was left with minimal guaranteed money in 2025 after renegotiations last offseason. Rodrigue reported that the Rams are also allowing Stafford's agent to "talk with other teams about Stafford's contract terms," which could allow the Giants an in to the negotiations. NFL Network's Peter Schrager recently reported that the split between Stafford and the Rams hinges on "a money issue," and that the veteran quarterback is seeking "more than $50 million" next season. That wouldn't be all the Giants would have to give up to acquire Stafford. Any trade for the quarterback would likely cost draft compensation. The Giants' assets outside the 2025 first round include the No. 34 pick. The franchise could be willing to pay a high price for a proven starter, however, given that the Giants currently have Tommy DeVito as the only quarterback signed through 2025. The Giants are also slated to select third in upcoming draft, and general manager Joe Schoen said Tuesday at the combine that the franchise would consider adding both a rookie and veteran quarterback to the roster this offseason. "Even if you get a young quarterback, you'd like to have a vet in the room with them to show them the ropes and how to be a pro," Schoen said (h/t Raanan). Adding both Stafford and drafting a young quarterback like Cam Ward or Shedeur Sanders could potentially give the Giants both the chance to improve immediately after a 3-14 season while putting the franchise on track toward developing a future franchise quarterback. That scenario hinges on Stafford, who ESPN's Adam Schefter recently reported wants to stay in Los Angeles, leaving the Rams. Whatever decision the Rams end up making about their incumbent starter, they will be under pressure to make it soon. Stafford is owed a $4 million roster bonus on March 19. Source: Bleacher Report

Not sure Stafford is going anywhere unless he's somehow lost his mind. The Giants? The Raiders? This is such a non-story being pushed. I swear this shit is generated solely by the media FOR the media to keep the 24/7 news machine flowing until free agency. The 49ers and Purdy are working toward a deal, I read, so that might make him more disgruntled. So much posturing going on out there, lol. Rams say they are 'fine' with starting Jimmy G.....McVay loves Stafford and he's 'their guy', blah blah blah. CoachSpeak from KOC. You'd think this was some covert CIA operation with the subterfuge and smoke.

I hear you, I'm speaking more about the actual probability of it happening. And I think the soon-to-be signing of Purdy is going to only make Stafford more angry. But the Rams can't let Stafford go, the team is loaded to be a NFC top contender with him. They'll cave. Aaron Rodgers or Uncle Sammy doesn't get where Stafford gets them.

Both that Stafford is making contract demands at 37 and that the Rams haven't figured out a way to make it work for a young playoff team that took the Super Bowl champions to the wire in the playoffs.
