Enough pussy footing around, time to call some players out. Time to help McCarthy out in a real way this year:

Kevin O’Connell says there is “no question” the Vikings have to solidify the interior of their offensive line this offseason.

Kevin O'Connell: "We've got to find a way to solidify the interior of the pocket. ... There could be a 1,000 excuses made, but for me, it's the foundation of the interior of the pocket that we're going to have to take a long look at."

I think this is it for The Hitman:

I'd like to congratulate KOC for focusing on a team weakness that dates back MANY years, now...because, imagine what our QBs accomplish if only pummeled average amounts.
Wait, we failed to protect our QB in big games, again?

MAYBE THERE'S A LESSON HERE.

I didnt know I could go from elation to sadness so quickly.  I dont know that anybody has been calling for a massive overhaul of our IOL more and longer than me... and I dont know that anybody was more jacked than I was when we took Harry out of college.  We have been blessed to have him patrolling the defense for so many years, and his swiss army ability will be sorely missed from the defense,  as  will  his professional leadership be missed from the team.  Thank you Harry for everything you have given this franchise.
Why isn't Chuck Foreman in the Hall of Fame?

Will he run the ball if he improves the interior line?

Fixing all three positions in one offseason is easier said than done, especially with so few draft picks. We can add a stud free agent like Trey Smith, but you can probably only upgrade one of the other two positions. A cheapish, veteran bridge player might be the answer there--a Gilmore for the IOL so to speak. Jason Zeitler in Detroit will be 35, but he was fantastic this year in Detroit. Both he and Smith play RG though. So maybe Teven Jenkins in Chicago at LG, Zeitler at RG and draft Bradbury's replacement in the 3rd round. Odds are not good a rookie 3rd rounder would be an upgrade though.

It wont happen, not in one fell swoop....I would settle for improvement to 1 of the 3 IOL spots.

They gotta beef up for pass pro and running. I mean, the Vikings have a pathetic running game and Jones was not a factor in too many games this year.

Smith is going to be tough to land, it would be Hutchinson like...Lots of teams will be vying for him and I have no idea what his personal preferences are.

The entire offensive line to me is a worry going into next season. When will Darrisaw be ready? ONeill got his ass kicked last night and has been dealing with injuries. The interior has needed a talent upgrade for years. But it's not just an offensive line issue, but also a quarterback and playcalling issue that led to some of these sacks. Have to be better all around going into next season

We’re at the beginning of our cap window. We’ll probably be cheap at QB again. We can afford to spend cap money and have few 2025 draft picks. I think we’ll go get the best interior OLine on the market and then a second good one, and probably draft a guy slightly down in the draft as an option for the future. I don’t know if we’ll be able to point at a specific position and say that’s where we’ll upgrade, as maybe there won’t be a top center available. I wouldn’t be surprised if we also went IOL in the first. I think it’s probably leaning defense (IDL or CB), but I think it’s definitely in the mix.

It's a really good free agent guard class. But you're right, we have no idea what these guys want, where they want to live, or even if they won't be re-signed by their teams. It is good to know, however, that the Vikings have both the money and an excellent reputation among players.

Developing last year's OL picks Jurgens & Rouse needs to be a priority this offseason. I do think that Jurgens can be a potential replacement for Bradbury.
