J. Hurts Status

Jalen Hurts injury update

On Monday, head coach Nick Sirianni announced during media availability that Hurts remains in concussion protocol.

The quarterback has not been seen at practice since suffering the concussion in Week 16.

The Eagles rested their starters and played third-string quarterback Tanner McKee in Week 18 after clinching the No. 2 seed the previous week. They defeated the New York Giants 20-13 as they managed to win with most of their backups.
NFL concussion protocol rules

The NFL's concussion protocol is a five-step process that each player diagnosed with a concussion must clear before he can return to action.

Here are the five steps, per the NFL:

Symptom limited activity
Aerobic exercise
Football specific exercise
Club-based non-contact training drills
Full football activity/clearance

Philadelphia has not stated where Hurts is in the protocol. Although it is unclear what stage Hurts is in, Wednesday will be important regarding his availability this weekend. If he can’t get a limited practice by Thursday it won't be easy to clear the protocol in time for Sunday's game.

I think they should sit him down for the rest of the season.

If he can't go this week, they effectively will be. I bet it will still be a close game, but I think GB would ultimately beat Pickett.

Probably right. If I'm the Vikings I'd happily take the yellow team over the Eagles with Hurts. Without Hurts, I take Philly by a mile.

We would benefit from either the Packers or Commanders winning this weekend as we, if victorious versus the Rams, would not have to go on short rest to face Detroit off their bye.

We'd either visit Philly, visit Tampa, or host the Commanders if both teams win.

There was no reason for the Eagles to rush him back. They sat most of their starters last week. I think this was strictly hey he's good but we don't need to activate him yet thing.

Agreed, I'm just glad because I don't care if its 'better' for Minnesota or not, I want to see the Eagles smash the Packers. If Green Bay went 0-17, I'd still be mad because I'd rather see them go 0-18. My hatred for that franchise knows no limits, mostly because of their insufferable fans.

LOL! That is 100% the correct answer! I can finally explain to everyone how I feel about the Packers.

On the Packers side, I wonder how serious the arm injury is with Love? The way he kept flexing his hand after throwing didn't look good.

Especially with how quickly they jump on their bandwagon the minute they do something semi notable.

The fact is the Packers are an above average team this season.  They were a blocked FG from getting swept by the Bears and the entire NFC North this season.

Jordan Love is not elite. Their defense is still flawed.  They have a good run game and a good coach and a QB who can make some big plays, just not consistently.
