More thoughts on the future and McCarthy....

I get that Sam will likely go where the money is, this is his chance to get the generational money and why shouldn't he.

My concern is that the team should get something for bringing in Sam, coaching him up, and showing the rest of the NFL what Sam can be. I think they should tag him and help him get to a team that he wants to go to.

If Sam walks out the door with a pat on the back and nothing in return, I will consider the front office inept and needing more reform.

I agree with this...

I'm already on the fence with KAM, in spite of a FA class this past year that has been outstanding and the overall success of the competitive re-build strategy.

But his drafts have been abysmal and how they've built the team isnt sustainable in the long-term with poor drafting.

Sam has already earned himself a big, new contract somewhere. If (big if) SAM continues his hot play, I can't see where the Vikings have a choice but to minimally tag him.

It's also clear to me that the Vikings "must have" an experienced QB in camp to compete with JJM in 25. Too much at stake for a team that is already post-season good and the rook is way too unproven at this point. And that QB better be someone good or the front office will be skewered for letting a good one walk out the door.
