Something no one is really talking about is the effect the Achilles injury has had on Cousins and Rodgers.  We have never seen a QB come back from an Achilles injury in the NFL that I'm aware of and I don't think it's a coincidence that both him and Rodgers are struggling.

So much of playing QB is tied to your mental game and your footwork.  Their Achilles might be healed, but maybe they don't have the mental confidence in it yet and their footwork and throwing mechanics are suffering because of it.

You might be right, but I think Rodgers is struggling mostly because he's 41 years old. The guy should retire and just be a Youtube influencer to Moron America. Lotta money in that.

That said, I don't think other teams would have any hesitation in paying him as his cap hit in 2025 would be very low for his ability, and they could cut him after the season with no consequences, but with the no trade clause, Cousins could dictate where he wanted to go and probably force an update to the contract to include some more more long term guarantees from the trading team.

Good insight on the contract aspect, I didn't know that. You're likely right regarding Kirk squeezing the buyer though, ha. Between his salary over the years and current or future investments, I bet Kirk will be a billionaire someday.

Dan Marino pulled it off. Tore his Achilles week 5. Came back the next season and played all 16 games. Went 10-6. 385/615 (62.6% compl) 30 tds and 17 ints. He then played another 5 seasons at a pro bowl level. It can be done.

Assuming he doesn’t make any more money, and the money he has already made returns 10% a year which is the market average, he should be a billionaire in 13 years at the age of 49.
