Yeah, I don't think the Raiders are part of Jones's plan.....in fact, I think his agent has already told them no. He's looking for a 2.0 shot, not just another starting gig with a shit organization and team. We'll see at some point today if he's smart or dumb. Just read from another source it might not happen today, but by week's end so who knows?

Most of the teams trying to acquire him are probably just looking at him as a guy that will hopefully get them a comp pick. The amount of time it would take to get up to speed to contribute is probably most of the rest of the season. It’s not like he’s a stud that you could just drop in and hit the ground running. That said, I think a team like the 49ers makes a lot of sense as a good team that he could actually participate given Purdy’s injury.

What does Jones want? If I were him, I’d be looking mostly at going to a high quality team, learn what I can learn about how to be a winner. Maybe contribute. If there’s a potential for 2025 that’s a huge plus. Somehow he has to get off the treadmill of shitty teams.

I think the 49ers are probably the favorites. I think the Vikings would be close too given how well Darnold has done and there could be an opening in 2025 where maybe he takes Mullens spot if he wants to have a year to regroup.

FWIW....

The Purple Persuasion @TPPSkol
DANIEL JONES UPDATE: This is NOT TPP ? official yet, but we’re hearing concrete grumblings that Jones prefers the #Vikings and is close to signing with Minnesota.

Jones joining the practice squad seems like the first step right now. Official verdict soon ?

Saw that earlier. TPP is an aggregator.....it takes information by others and represents it under their Twitter handle. They have no sources, only what they find on Twitter and repost. I follow them because they gather info and make it easier to see multiple sources quickly. So like you said, FWIW. I think the most likely scenario is this is going to take a couple days.

p.s. the funny part is the national media is acting like this is a giant sweepstakes and someone will be getting a gem, lol. The NFL hype machine in action. I still don't understand Minnesota's interest completely, but its rumored to be there. I mean if you are interested in another reclamation project, just resign Darnold. But if its the more sensible 'backup for 2025' scenario, why would Jones be interested in that? Backup reps won't move the needle much, you need to be planted in as a starter like Darnold to get the full potential benefits. I would imagine he wants to start somewhere good in 2025, not be a backup. Would Minnesota be offering a QB competition between Danny Dimes and McCarthy? I'm having a hard time seeing the vision outside broad conjecture at this point.

I get why the Vikings would want Jones as their backup to JJM NEXT year. That's a pretty sizable upgrade to Mullens. Mullens isnt signed for '25 anyway. I just don't see Jones pushing Mullens off the roster down the stretch THIS year. That would be pretty reckless.

I just don't understand at all how it makes sense for Jones. Is he really willing to take a backseat for a couple seasons just get a little of that KOC magic? And at what point is he ever going to be able to show anyone how much better he is in a good offense? The preseason? It's a gamble.

On the other side, if he takes a starting job with a shit team, he'll be in the same situation he was before.

I would like him in the QB room with JJM for his experience and perspective. But like you guys said, how that makes sense for Jones isn't readily apparent. I'm trying to think of a team thats not horse manure, but on the precipice of winning that will fit the bill.
