Right now, if you are the NY Giants....

....would you rather have WR Malik Nabers or Penix, McCarthy or Bo Nix? Not sure that can be answered 100% yet, but we can all have an opinion. My perspective is they should have nabbed a QB.

Teams will trade high talent WR, teams can find high talent WR in FA, what you dont typically do is aquire a highly talented QB in trades or FA, this is a no brainer, if course QB was the right answer.

OK, but they had pick #6. They took Daniel Jones at pick #6. Would you rather have Daniel Jones or Malik Nabers?

I think their reasoning was we can either draft a QB here. Appr 50/50 odds on that. Or we can draft a generational receiver in Nabers and give Jones one more chance with better weapons. WRs aren't a sure thing either but the odds are far better. And if you draft a QB there, like Jones, he still has no one to throw to. Why were the Vikings the best destination for a QB. Because we had elite weapons in place.

I also think they wanted to give Jones another chance to justify his salary with a WR of Nabers caliber...and if it doesn't work you get the QB next year, but guess what? Now you have an elite year-two WR for him to throw to. If I'm the Giants I take Nabers.

So your assumption is Nabers is a 'generational' talent and they can just get their franchise QB in next Spring's Draft?

Could Danny Dimes be the next KOC QB reclamation project? Although JJM will be our starter next season, you're still going to want a vet backing him up. Sam is likely to move onto a team that will offer him a starting gig. Mullens is also going to be a FA although he could resign here. I don't see a team offering Jones a starting gig next year. So, why not sign with Minnesota & see if KOC can turn his career around as he did with Darnold.

Or in free agency. I think they'll go that route. Teams tend to do the opposite of what didn't work last time.

Hey, you might be right. Its interesting to watch it play out regardless. I've heard some whispers that the Giants could be interested in Darnold after this season: not sure Sammy wants the big NYC microscope again however.

You beat me to it re: Darnold. I agree, not sure the NY area is where he would want to return. He's pretty midwest/cali laid back.

Its an interesting question re: QB or Nabah. The WR is a good one, but I'm not convinced (yet) he is a generational talent.

OTOH, they made a huge investment in Jones and one could argue the surrounding team wasn't good enough to draft a QB that high yet.

Its a very Viking like situation tbh.

I thought for sure they were taking JJM at 6 and of course I was wrong.

Of course they should've drafted a QB. Just like they should've taken Darnold or Allen over Barkley too. Some teams never learn.

Our own franchise has had generational talents all over the field. Our best chances at championships have primarily come when we had generational QUARTERBACK play (Tark, Favre, Cunningham).
