My interest level is at zero....wake me up next year at this time

It also lets us keep Hall on the roster most/all of the year. Not that great of a consolation prize, but maybe it keeps him off the practice squad.

Vikings rookie QB J.J. McCarthy’s season is over. He underwent surgery on his meniscus this morning. The procedure revealed a repair was necessary. What an absolute bummer.

I know Dr Larson and his wife personally, he's on the sidelines every game.

They are great people and he is a terrific surgeon. JJM got top notch care.

I have no doubt he'll put in the work to be ready in 25.

I'm trying to not get too down about this. Everything we heard leading up is Darnold is QB1 and that this is JJ's redshirt year. I was always under the impression Darnold would start until he was either injured or we were mathematically eliminated. I've always felt this is a 6-7 win team, so I'm mostly disappointed we won't see JJM at the end of the year developing towards next year.

I guess this year, we ride with Darnold for 17 games. I feel like we might fall to 5-6 wins now instead of 6-7. At least we're likely going to have a really high pick that we can trade down next year and recoup some picks and we have a shit ton of cap space. 2025 looks bright...we just have to get through this season.

Thats a tough ask after last years gut punch...

I hope for all our sakes (and Darold's too) he can elevate his game with this surround and staff.

Maybe 24 becomes more than another 2023.

Is that a silver lining? Do we really want to see a lot of him?

This pre season had that fresh exciting energy that we have not had since the year we were a Super Bowl favorite after winning the division the previous year with Teddy. The team looked great during pre season, we were going into the new stadium and there was a buzz on how Teddy was a great leader and how his teammates and then boom, instantly all the season hopes were over and then suddenly we had to root for a QB who never lived up to expectations. I remember that gut punch feeling then and here is that same feeling again, deja vu.

Like Sticky stated, I was also really excited to see JJM develop, even if he didn't play, just knowing he was growing and getting better every day in practice and that we could see him at some point in the year, gave the season promise. And now instead of hopes for a promising season, I am wondering how since we will be likely drafting high, how we will likely trade down and get some of the draft picks back.

I feel like that's almost a certainty. Trade back late into the first and pick up a second.  I know we'll likely get a compensatory 3rd, but that leaves us with a high first, a low 3 and two 5ths.  Kewsi is gonna want more ammo than that.

Although, depending on how free agency falls and how our depth looks....maybe this team is just looking for one more blue chip piece and stays. Though I have to believe they're gonna fill those "blue chip" holes via free agency and use the draft for depth.
