What if Kwesi pivoted completely? Traded down from #11 and/or #23. Acquired picks in this draft and/or the 2025 draft in order to take a shot at a QB next year.
If Kwesi trades DOWN in this draft from either position, he looks like a complete idiot.  What would have been  the purpose of trading for the second first rounder in the first place
To put us in a better position to trade up for a QB. But it didn't come with a guarantee that it was going to work. If it doesn't, I wouldn't force an ill fit. The Vikings are going to get two very good players there. But if the value is consistent between 23 and, say, 35, then a trade down might make some sense, especially if it gets you a second 1st rounder next year.

Man, they really are going to blow this whole thing and get stuck with Darnold and either Nix or Penix, be the laughing stock of the league, finish dead last in the division and sit on the endless merry go round of trash QBs.
Minnesota has absolutely no leverage. Every team in the NFL knows Sam Darnold is a hot garbage place holder and the Vikings are BEYOND desperate for a QB. Unfortunately there are half a dozen teams in the same boat with a better chance to get a difference maker than them.
Kwesi cocked this whole thing up by not signing Kirk to a three year extension last year and it will be his undoing. If he just sits and lets the draft “come to him”, this team and all its one year contracts will implode

We have no idea how the team has the QBs ranked. It's possible that they have Nix and/or Penix ranked higher than Maye and/or JJM.
That would be absolutely WILD

I can't see burning a first for Penix, with his injury history. He's a good kid, practically a hero up here, but I'd be as worried about him as I was about Teddy's knees after 2016.

Might be nothing left worth getting at #5.

If QBs are going 1-4, and Arizona doesn't want to drop back to 11 then trading up to 5 with LAC, and then up one more spot to 4, could be viable. Arizona gets MHJ plus an extra pick (not sure what since we don't have 2nds...), and LAC gets 11 and 23. In the end it may cost us 3 firsts and a second to get QB4. Pretty disgusting honestly but if it works no one will care about the cost. I still think this is a better option than kicking the can down the road yet another year.
Every morning I wake up wishing we'd just taken Levis lol. Even if he messes the bed this season life would be so much simpler haha.

i see it the another way, IMO he is the best passer in the draft,  and has been healthy the last 2 years (showing his game has grown and he isnt reliant on running to make his game work)  I think there is more value in taking him at 11,  then add another high prospect in the 20s ( or maybe flip that 2nd pick in the 20s this year into another first next year and a day 2 pick this year?)  than trading both of those firsts,  and possibly more, to take a guy that maybe will become a better player,  than what Penix ( or Nix ) already are.

I was all on board with JJM or whoever the coaches are loving in the top 4,  but the more I look at it,  the more I think Nix or Penix are just a likely to succeed in the NFL as any of the others.  Its a crap shoot I guess.

It looks like you've seen more of Penix than just about anyone on this board. Besides his injury history, another concern that I have is his intermediate passing game. Intermediate passes are a staple in KOCs offense & I didn't see a lot of intermediate passes in the UW games that I watched.

Penix has the highest floor of any Qb in the draft after Caleb unless his chuck and duck show in the CFP was not a result of bruised ribs.
He has a man’s upper body, that usually is good enough but yeah his lower half is brittle looking. I  think he’s a first round pick and probably upper half.

Highest floor? Man, I don't see that. Not with his injury history. I think his floor is the lowest among the top 6. But I do like his ceiling if he can put the injuries behind him.

For sure based on accuracy and arm talent and reading a d.  If he’s not off the board for medicals, only Caleb is a better player at this point.

KOC on McAfee this morning talking about the most important trait in a quarterback is accuracy. McAfee goes, "oh okay, so Penix then!" KOC pauses and goes right back into the most important trait being accuracy. Lol. Thought that was interesting
