If push comes to shove...

I'll go on record that I dont believe the top 3 spots are available - at least for what most people would deem sane or reasonable.

So if at 11 the top 4 QB's are gone and The Vikings are looking at a top D player, Penix or Nix, what would you want them to do??

Stay true to their board.  that said if penix or nix are there it would be hard pressed to pass, especially since teams tight behind them need QB’s.  im sure these guys will do what they think is right.

If that means we come out of the draft with Darnold, Hall and Joe Milton or Rattler, i will do what i have done every year since 1973, that is get behind it and see what happens.

I'm taking Dallas Turner or Byron Murphy, then jumping on the phones trying to jump back into the first round for either Nix or Penix. I don't think any of us know how high or low those two QB's go, could be anywhere from the Vikings picking 11th to the second round, but we need someone

We already have another first round pick.

Lol yes, that's what I meant. I don't think I'd reach for a QB at 11 just because we need one. No idea where the value of Nix and Penix is currently

I put them with the top 3,  I have more faith in those 2 panning out based on their travk records than I do the other 4 with their higher ceilings actually reaching those ceilings.  It's only a reach if you actually think they would be available later,   which I don't.  I get my QB at 11 and an IO/DL at 23.

This brings up a thought.  If the QB value isnt there at 11, we have 23 and our 3rd next year and multiple 4ths this year which either one could get us back up in the teens

I’m not sure who will be available, but most seem to think Penix and Nix. Of those two, it probably depends on what time of day it is for which one I want. I love Penix’s arm talent a little more, but like Nix for his dual threat ability. I consider both guys to be clear top 10 picks as I consider them very clear franchise QB’s.

I would take them at 11 as they will not get past 12, 13, or 14. Even after those needy teams, there are others. This assuming one or both don’t go before our pick. Unless there’s a major unknown (to us) concern with one of them, Nix, Penix, JJM, Maye, Daniels (my fav) and Williams will all be gone by pick 20.

Not selecting a QB at 11 is utterly insane to me, unless the top 6 are already gone. There are least 6 franchise QB’s in this class thanks to COVID. We have basically 2 years worth of QB’s available to pick from. So the usual 2 to 3 potential franchise level options number 6 this year.

At 23, which would be awesome to keep, I’m wide open. I’m so happy they got that pick to move up, but just as excited if they don’t. I do know there will still be some studs available at most positions. DL is my position of choice if one of the top couple are available.

If by miracle they can score either Penix or Nix AND a starting defender in round one, I will be as happy as I’ve ever been for a draft.

IMO two of the better draft sites or sources are GBN and Daniel Jeremiah's rankings. Both have Nix as the 26th overall prospect in this draft and each have Penix ranked similarly (38th and 40th). Would I be thrilled taking either one of them with the 11th pick out if necessity....no way. Especially not at the expense of someone like Dallas Turner, Verse or Murphy. McCarthy is the last of the QB's I'd take at 11, after that, give me the top rated defensive player on the board and work that 23rd pick for a quarterback
