If push comes to shove...

I take Bryon Murphy. Like I always say, you can't have too many Byron Murphys on your team. Then I do whatever it takes to move 27 into one of the remaining QBs.

I think getting JJM @ 5 or DL + Nix or Pennix later would make most of the board happy.

But that takes some luck, some kahuna's too - not something I typically associate with the Vikings  :p

I'm taking Dallas Turner or Byron Murphy, then jumping on the phones trying to jump back into the first round for either Nix or Penix. I don't think any of us know how high or low those two QB's go, could be anywhere from the. Vikings picking 11th to the second round, but we need someone
We already have another first round pick.
Lol yes, that's what I meant. I don't think I'd reach for a QB at 11 just because we need one. No idea where the value of Nix and Penix is currently
I put them with the top 3,  I have more faith in those 2 panning out based on their travk records than I do the other 4 with their higher ceilings actually reaching those ceilings.  It's only a reach if you actually think they would be available later,   which I don't.  I get my QB at 11 and an IO/DL at 23.
I don't like that Penix is so mangled already, but I think he'll play some decent ball in the NFL.  I don't want Nix.  Can't even put a finger on why, but just feel he's a bust.   I think we've got the fit with McCarthy being so young and so good when it counts is just too much to pass up.  If O'Connell thinks it's Maye, I'm fine with that also, but no I'm not taking Penix or Nix at 11.  I just think you could trade back down and still land Penix before 20.  The Vikes need to have a good finger on the pulse in this draft.  Hopefully, that's the case.  Perhaps Denver goes all in on one of those two at 12, but I'm not convinced that they or the Raiders will.

I'll go on record that I dont believe the top 3 spots are available - at least for what most people would deem sane or reasonable.

So if at 11 the top 4 QB's are gone and The Vikings are looking at a top D player, Penix or Nix, what would you want them to do??
I feel like if the Vikings walk away from Day 1 without one of the now Top 4 QBs, it’ll be an abject failure of an offseason. At that point they’ll be best off just grabbing the best defensive player on the board at 11, because nether Nix nor Penix are worth drafting that high. It’ll literally be another Ponder situation.

Less damage will be done seeing if either of those two are at 24. If they are, whatever, take your shot I guess but no one is gonna hold their breath.

Of course in that scenario they’ll try to sell it like they “got their guy”, but we all know that’s that’s total BS.  They’ll pray the lower tier guy pans out while Darnold starts until we’re out of contention.

Then we’re likely wash, rince and repeat this whole process next season and every season after until we find a real QB.

If you are asking, I would take Nix at 11.  I predict that Denver would then take Penix at 12.
And go big DL at 23.  Especially if either Murphy (TX) or Newton (IL) are available.  PLEASE DO NOT TRADE UP AND LOSE THAT #23 PICK!!

Wow, if our choice comes down to Penix or Nix there is going to be a battle on this board.

That’s about as good a choice as we’re gonna have in the election.

While I understand where you're coming from, both Nix & Penix are better prospects than Ponder was.
