It's a shrewd move. They know they need to take a big swing for a QB this year and its not going to happen if they stay at 11, so they get the second 1st rounder and position themselves ahead of other teams to trade up. They still need to make the next trade, but they're a lot closer now.

They've hedged their bets well for 2025 when they should get two 3rd round comp picks and have something like $54 million in dead money cleared from the cap, so they should be able to recoup a lot of what they are trading. No guarantee that whomever they take pans out, but it's right time to take that chance.

Not so fast, Adam Schefter just reported that Houston actually approached Kwazy w/ this trade… preemptive gift perhaps, interesting?  Wink B)  back to checkers!
