If I had to choose now what I THINK will happen, it'll be Bo Nix.
I'm not yet convinced that JJM will declare. A lot will depend on the results of the CFP & if Harbaugh jumps to the pros. With the NIL $ available to JJM, remaining in Michigan may be a palatable option. I guess that I'll believe it when I see it.
IIRC Parcells had a checklist for evaluating college QBs & the likelihood that they could successfully transition to the pro game. He said that college QBs should have a minimum of 30 starts & a 70% win rate. I have to think that both Nix & Penix meet this metric FWIW.
One that wasn't on Parcell's checklist was season-ending injuries, which has to be a concern about Penix. Love his poise in the pocket though.
I dont know that there is QB in the group that can help/hurt his stock more with his bowl game performance. I have seen enough to know that I love his game, but the durability question looms large and the Vikings havent been lucky in rolling the dice lately on "injury bugged" draft picks. However, I would love to see the kid play for the Vikings, he has the arm to make about any throw and the accuracy to really make use of our receiving talents. If they pass I will understand, but if they take him I will be elated to see how his journey unfolds. Really seems like a great young man.
Well said and I agree, but I guarantee this kid is very polarizing in NFL front offices. I bet he is all over the board in NFL Draft rooms and for the reasons you mention. Some NFL team always takes a QB much higher than the 'media experts' have him and Penix might be that kid.....or he falls. Bo Nix could also be that player. Both Nix and Penix will be 24 years old before or right after the Draft, compared to a kid like Quinn Evers who will be only 21 years old.
Having watched a few Oregon games this fall, I would take Bo Nix in a heartbeat if he falls to us in the second round.

I wouldn't be surprised if both Penix & Nix dropped to the 2nd round because of their age. Teams will also need to determine if they've already reached their ceilings or can they continue to improve which will be necessary for them to develop into pro QBs. In comparison, JJM is only 20 years old. JJM has a higher ceiling than either Penix or Nix but also a lower floor.
We did learn this season that KOC wants a pocket passer to run his offense. Both Penix & Nix would fit the bill. However, he passed on Levis in last year's draft & he's a pocket passer, so who knows.
The latest on Ewers is that he's expected to return to Texas which is puzzling to me since they have Arch Manning waiting in the wings.

I read somewhere that Wilson's next team will not have to pay much of anything in terms of salary and cap space. Sounds like the Broncos will be on the hook for nearly all of it. Not sure how accurate that is.
But is there a more perfect bridge QB than that? A 7X Pro Bowl QB that you don't have to pay? In a year when you're hit with $28M?
Now...I'm no big fan of Wilson's. He can be a clown and he's not as good as Kirk Cousins. But if we're unable to come to terms with Kirk, and we do draft a QB this spring, Wilson just might be a pretty good low-cost bridge to the post-Cousins, QB-on-a-rookie-deal promised land...(for those who observe). You also have to think the Vikings would be at or near the top of his list of teams.

For Penix, I don't think his age drops him as much as the fact that he's got fundamental flaws in his footwork and windup....not to mention his injury history. His patience in the pocket will serve him well in the NFL, but man, there's so much wrong with his delivery. I'd be surprised if he goes in the 1st. Nix is a much cleaner prospect IMO.
Don't know why they passed on Levis, but it wasn't because he was a pocket passer only. Guy's a terror running the ball. My hunch says it was character, but we probably won't find out for years.
