Good breakdown on Hendon Hooker

I tend to think more and more the Vikings are going take a position player of need early and take a flyer on a mid round QB at some point. DTR, Jaren Hall, Tanner McKee have been a few of the names mentioned that would make sense. Either that or trade for a young, high upside QB like a Trey Lance or Zach Wilson. Drafting a QB early just seems less and less likely the more this plays out and you look at our roster holes through a realistic lense
I would personally change the perspective to, they'll take a mid-round QB if they truly believe that player has a chance to be a productive NFL player. Maybe we can just consider all QB draft picks a lottery ticket, but I really don't think this FO will draft a QB simply because they feel like they should give it a shot. If they don't move up and take DTR, Hall, McKee, etc. I do think they see something that leads them to believe they can develop into a serviceable starter.
The dream of every NFL team's fanbase: the serviceable starting QB. Sounds exciting, doesn't it?  :p

Agreed. If Levis or Richardson starts to fall then I'd love for the Vikings to make an aggressive move up to get their guy but the way this is shaping up, we don't seem very well positioned to get one of the top QBs of this class.
It's unfortunate because having a succession plan to Kirk feels not only prudent but pressing, considering his deal is up after next season. Sadly it doesn't seem like it's going to work out perfectly for the Vikings. There's a long list of QBs they were within reach of over the past few years and for whatever reason they did not pull the trigger, so now we're kind of stuck.
Hopefully whatever midround guy they throw a dart at can actually steer the ship to some degree, unlike Mond. Ironically, Taylor Heineke is the one QB RS put into the pipeline who has amounted to anything, and we cut him. Pain.
The only QBs less appealing than Hooker are Levis and Richardson.

I agree on a pure evaluation that Hooker is at best a 2nd Rounder. However, I like the idea of Seattle putting a trade package together with one of their Second Rounders so they can move up to 23 and draft Hooker as an eventual Gino Replacement since his money isn't guaranteed after this year. If teams have some draft pick capital, why not trade up into the late first and grab Hooker so you get that fifth year option? The dropoff after Hooker is significant so I can definitely see a team like Seattle who has a boatload of picks overdrafting Hooker so they can lock him up for 5 years and develop his abilities.

I tend to agree. I doubt we see a massive move for a QB. Rather, I see us trading back a couple times, collecting a couple more 3rds to fill needs. The QB will either be Hooker in a trade back or one of the others in the 3rd or 4th. But if we miss, which is entirely possible, I could see a draft-day move on a Lance or a Wilson.

Hooker and where he ultimately lands is going to be one of the more interesting storylines of this draft. Some people have him in the top 10 while others have him dropping into the second round.

If we are looking for a late round QB, Holton Ahlers looks to check all the boxs.

Gotta admit, that would be freaking fun to see a kid with real Viking bloodlines be our QBoTF

@Wetlander mentioned a few weeks ago that the Richardson narrative was similar to the Malik Willis hype last year. Much talk about him going super early and then he just didn't. Reality set in.

And while I don't think that necessarily applies to Richardson, I think it probably applies to Hooker. Reality needs to set in at some point. I like him as a prospect, but he comes from an offense that has nothing in common with NFL offenses, he's over-aged and he's hurt. Are teams really going to take that in the top 20? Hard to see.
