My wife and I can't do puppies anymore, PF.....they are nightmares. Our current is a rescue we adopted at 3 years old and he was plug and play. He's been an amazing dog (in my profile pic). When this one passes, we'll rescue another adult dog from the pound. 

Puppies are cute as hell, but f#$k the puppies..... B)

I get it...We thought about it 100 times till we pulled the trigger. 

Our breeder is now in her 70's and she wont be doing this forever . We wanted 1 more from her. 

Rescue dogs can be just awesome - great for owners and the dogs (win/win)

I totally understand. My point is really that puppies for the first 6-8 months are a nightmare. Crying, shitting, pissing, freaking out when you leave them alone (like Amber Heard). 

You forget their mouths are full of python teeth too...

You don't forget you look at those nice gnawed on chairs you have to take out for the next generations Thanksgiving meal and you smile at your kids and reminisce what a great dog Buster was.

Well, Wilbur is almost 4 mos old now and growing-up in a hurry...Looks more like a gangly dog than a puppy on some days. 

We're fortunate to have a few pups on the block to play with and he's going to doggie daycare for socialization, our sanity as well as puppy training class.

Super sweet and smart - might be our smartest of the 3 labs we have owned. Very accommodating and we may take his training all the way to companion dog for people/kids in the hospital etc. 

Our 12 year old black lab is enjoying a bit of a renaissance with him and loves to play bitey face/run around quite often - an unexpected windfall for us all. 

HOPEFULLY we have the bulk of potty training hell behind us, but 4 mos old is still a baby - so we remain tolerant.

Here's an off season update and my pal @ 9 mos...

Almost 80 lbs now. We're doubling down on the training and behavior stuff while we can still influence him to be livable lol!

Its cliche' as hell but true, the new ones who come into our lives dont replace the old ones gone, they just create new spaces in the heart.
