He's too young for it to be age related. I don't have a clue what his problem is, but the Broncos are stuck. I think their only solution is to publicly blame it on something else, fix that thing and hope he comes back better next year. Because they can't get rid of him. And if they fire Paton, it's basically admitting that Wilson was a mistake, which is not the message you want to send since Wilson will be your QB in 2023. I think they'll manufacture a scapegoat.
And you called it! Hackett hits the road.
I think that's been a shoe waiting to drop for a couple months now.

Agreed. The HC always goes in this scenario. They are stuck with Russ, he's not going anywhere. I don't think Hackett is good regardless.

Its just so gross to see in print, unreal:

"The Broncos sent two first-round picks, two second-round picks, a fifth-round pick, quarterback Drew Lock, tight end Noah Fant and defensive lineman Shelby Harris to the Seattle Seahawks for Wilson and a fourth-round pick. The Broncos then signed Wilson to a five-year, $245 million contract extension with $165 million guaranteed."

Well...to that I would only say it looks that way now, but it's not necessarily over.  Call me crazy, but I refuse to believe that a 9-time Pro Bowler and Super Bowl champion turned 34 and suddenly sucked.

Might he have been overrated in Seattle? Sure. Probably was. But you don't go from that level to THIS level overnight. Something's not right.

it is age related.  He relied on mobility. That has gone away and he is let as a short, mediocre QB on a bad team.  He needs a good interior o-line and scheme to open passing lanes.

Never understood the elite status bestowed upon him. He was above average, but largely seemed like a guy who capitalized on his opportunities on a solid team with a good ground game and very good defense. Never saw him make half the throws that Kirko has made this year.
And Kirko has never made half the moves in the pocket that Wilson has either,  two different types of QBs,  honestly when you look at the way the game is played today I think I would trade a few of those dimes for more mobility,  with the protections a QB gets,  you have to be willing to move him around and really force the defense to be more honest.   Also,  Kirk has guys taking killer hits to make many of those passes complete,  not many other QBs would see star athletes sacrificing their bodies like we have seen the Vikings receivers do for Kirk's questionable throws.  I had to laugh as I saw JJ make a business decision on a throw that would have gotten him killed on Saturday,   first time I've seen that from him this year,   but glad he did it.  Kirk threw him into a sure decleater.
Mobility has proven to be a short in a game that increasingly relies on stability and leadership from the QB position. Pocket awareness is great, which I think Kirk has, besides holding the ball too long. Kirk has taken more killer hits than his star receivers, and not missed a game. Of all the "mobile" guys out there, how many have missed significant time, had their careers cut short, or will look like a washed up RB once their wheels are gone?

I don't know about the statement of not having many QBs having star receivers sacrificing their bodies like we do. Pretty sure all top receivers get added coverage, and they know the route trees. The reason they are star receivers is because they beat the opponent on tightly contested catches. Unless you want to abandon crossing, and go routes, the potential for head on collisions exist. Cousins has put the ball where our receivers have the best chance, often under duress. I would say not in any more dangerous frequency than average.

He has a private office?

I don't think you need to dig any further.  Any GM that thought this was a good idea should be fired immediately.

Would that be the same GM that many on this board were lamenting the loss of?   For the record, I think the jury is still out on Kwesi as well.  That draft was a complete cluster f@ck.  I think I'd rather still have Spielman.
