I obviously don't put this loss all on Cousins, but he doesn't feel pressure until it's too late. Some QBs sense the pressure and move before it's more of a problem. By the time Cousins feels the pressure, he just folds for the hit. He does stand in to make throws only to get drilled, so he does show toughness, but his in pocket spidy senses just aren't honed in to avoid some of those sacks by getting out of the pocket or throwing the ball away.
the man is tough,  but his survival skills are simply non-existent.  he kind of reminds me of Rocky when he keeps sticking his jaw out there,  it gets hit,  he falls down, gets back up and we get to see the same thing over and over and over again... simply refuses to stay down and refuses to change what hes doing to try and avoid getting punched in the face.
Some of those sacks by Cowboy players were coming through that offensive line untouched.  Cousins drops back and they're already there up in his mug...

some yes,  but some are him holding the ball,  standing in one spot,  and just waiting for something bad to happen.   when you have your back up LT in the game,  getting no help,  and you drop back 5 to 7 yards and then set up and hold the ball.... you kind of have to know thats not likely to end well and should be looking to get the ball out right away or be looking to take evasive action.  the oline is not great,  but Kirk does them no favors with the way he holds the ball and doesnt move around in the pocket.

Watched the highlights, the first sack was Kirk holding the ball and trying to make something happen.  Against that D, probably shouldn't hold the ball that long.  CD blocked Parsons for a good bit, turned him loose a bit to easily and he tracked down Cousins.

The second one looks like where CD got concussed again.  Parsons put his helmet into CDs chin and CD looked a bit stunned.  This is how my son got his last football concussion that ended his HS career.  It was on a kick return, but same thing, helmet to the chin and he looked a bit dazed.

I wish  Cousins had better awareness of when to just take off and  run North/South and slide he'd help his game.

A 3 yard pick up on a scramble slide versus losing 8 yards on a sack would be huge.

Just doesn't seem like that's part of his DNA.

It's not...

My only hope is he can get marginally better and the OL significantly so.

IDK, I think every once in a while you see a coaching staff
just come in with the wrong gameplan and I think that’s what you saw here.  I think we practiced some stuff, Dallas
either did something different or maybe not, but whatever we practiced was
wrong, and we didn’t have a counter for what they were doing.  I’m not sure I would put too much stock in
whatever happens Thursday being the predictor for our whole season, as there’s
so little time to self-diagnose and fix things, and Belichek will probably be
better at implementing a plan on a short week.

That said, we needed to lose a game, just to bring us back
down to earth a little bit, but hopefully we can learn from it and develop some
resiliency.
One thing I don’t get is why we are so reluctant to run the
ball.  It was pretty obvious that
something was wrong with our pass blocking scheme, so why not run the ball more
and try to re-establish physicality.

Its this aspect of his game,  or more to the point missing part of his game that keeps me from viewing him as good enough,  but in today's game a statue is just not going to be good enough IMO,  he doesn't seem to process with the speed that some do,  especially in this new offense,  and he just doesn't move or take those little what is there plays, nearly often enough to keep defenses honest.  A few 4 yards and a slide,  especially if they move the chains,  do a lot to keep a D from pinning those ears back,  or keeping LBs from bailing away from the LOS. Or even just sliding around in the pocket to make the rushing defenders adjust their rush.

And the frustrating part is he is athletic enough to do these little things.  Its almost like AD and learning to pass block,  seems they just don't want to do it.

This a million times,  running the ball is what OL live for,  that is their time to get after those lighter fast DL and impose their will,  pass blocking makes them vulnerable, run blocking makes them feel good....dammit kevin,  don't you want them to feel good about themselves?

I'm starting to wonder if KOC maybe could use a mentor HC in his ear at times,  some old guy that just whispers sweet WTFs to him when his decision making needs some in game tuning up.

Maybe not?

You get to a certain point and -- well at 12 years old, my old black Lab (Auggie) just likes some nice, long walks, a nap or cuddling with Wilbur. Maybe Big Kirko would like a cuddle too?

Yup. Time and time again KOC admits it is his blind spot.  Someone needs to get a 2x4 ready next game to get it through to him.

But I agree, it was a good game to check their reality.  JJ talking about how it was their year after the Buffalo game made me think they were due for a wakeup call.
