And the line between Church and State in this country gets a little thinner today. If you read the brief, students and athletes have expressed concerns about retribution by the coach and harassment from the community if you aren't interested in joining.
This is the crux of the problem. Its why it wasn't originally allowed. It seem harmless enough on its face, but its why there is separation between Church and State.
The school listed the praying as the reason for termination and didn't say anything about potential retribution or harassment...made it tough to turn around and say something different after the fact.
The reality is there is a lot more retribution and harassment for non kneeling for social justice at sporting events than there has ever been for these type of post game prayers. Why are they tolerated and even encouraged if the issue was potential harassment and retribution?

It usually is. Another part of this that not many are talking about is the fertility industry. What happens with IVF? Selective reduction? The whole thing is just beyond stupid. And incredibly cruel.

Where do you get your information? The Catholic church preaches and teaches abstinence for both sexes prior to marriage. There isn't some witch hunt against women and ignoring the sexual transgressions of males over females. The message is pretty simple by the church, birth control in any form is wrong, not singling out or targeting women, this is a largely ignored teaching, but it is the stance of the church's core teachings.
I know all about the abstinence piece too thanks. I got my information from being raised Catholic. It was the scandal with the priests that lead my mom to leave the church. I left before that. I have also spoken with women that received the same misogynistic messages from their churches.
As was I and the church doesn't preach or teach misogyny in modern times. In 8 years of catholic school it wasn't brought up once.
I dont practice Catholicism myself any longer, much for the same reason as your mother. However, how may people are walking away from their political parties over the same cover-up of sexual abuses? I dont think anybody actually believes the maxwell testimony isn't being leaked because there isn't anything to leak.
Misogyny in the churches is still a thing in modern times unfortunately. It is unreal the number of girls and women that can speak on it.
I have been reading though this thread and hesitate to get involved. I must at least add I'm very impressed with your defense of women's rights here. I'm also very sad for your heartbreaking share. That's something no girl should go through.
Your strength is awesome and you reaching out to help other girls and woman is inspiring. Much respect.

There will be a lot of abortion legislation across the US in the next few months. For instance, in my home State, the WI law on abortion goes back to the 1800's and was on the books when Roe vs Wade basically modified the law. The law makes any abortion a felony. They'll have to find some common ground there with a Republican Assembly and Senate and a Democratic Governor. Many States enacted trigger legislation to pacify their base while Roe was still settled law..never really believing that Roe would eventually fall. The party in control in the US Congress passes a lot of dog whistle legislation they know full well won't be ratified in the Senate or signed by the President. Pelosi does it all the time.
Now...these State legislatures will actually have to enact real world laws to deal with abortion and other related issues. Lots of valid points regarding health of a mother, IVF, non viable fetus, rape / incest (thanks for sharing your story VG..absolutely heart breaking that people can do that to other people), time period. Abortion rights are still favored by a majority...albeit not the majority they once had..likely due to the Far Left embrace / celebration of abortion including up to day of birth. Abortion should be one of the most solemn decisions a person will ever have to face...rather than celebrated. The old Planned Parenthood slogan that abortions should be safe, legal and rare should still apply. If the Far Right tries to move beyond the accepted norms (such as no abortion..no exceptions)..many of us in the middle will revolt and vote them out of office.
I'd still rather it be settled at the Federal level but it's now up to the people how to best handle it. We do live in interesting times.
