What high praises mean for the career of Kellen Mond with the Minnesota VikingsEncouragement from his new head coach and a possible competition for the No. 2 quarterback position with Sean Mannion gives Mond the chance he may have assumed he had when he heard his name called by Vikings legend John Randle during the 2021 draft.
From O’Connell’s perspective, this gives him time to truly work with a mobile quarterback, as most of his career has been spent with pocket passers such as Kirk CousinsJared Goff, and Matthew Stafford.
For Mond, he now has a second chance after Minnesota didn’t take a quarterback in this year’s draft. He can press reset on the goal he may have had when he was drafted in 2021 to take Cousins’ starting job and become the quarterback of the future for the Vikings.

I think the kid was given a raw deal last year. He caught Covid early in camp (wasn't vaxxed) and had to miss about 10 days or so - crucial for a young QB. Now you add Zimmer with his hard-on for everyone to get the shot and I'm sure that didn't sit well with him, especially with Mond being a close contact to Cousins.

His situation can't be any worse than last year. At the very least I'd hope he can develop to be a pretty good backup QB. Time will tell.
Do you mean Zimmer wanting to do everything he could to win a football game, so was not pleased that a rookie QB would not do what was best for the team?  Mond did not get a raw deal, he created it.  Players who are all about winning like Tom Brady and PP were doing all they could to get their teammates vaccinated, that is what winners do, guys like Cousins and Mond put themselves ahead of the team and that is why Zimmer was not a fan and as a head coach why would he think any other way.

Packers never should have let Rodgers on the field...Clearly he's not about winning.

Vaccines don't work.
LOL!!!!!  And we should just get rid of hospitals and all medications and anything that is science based.  Complete ignorance and embarrassing that we have people walking around like this, which is why we are stil in the position we are.
What a crock of bullshit.
NOT what some of the Co-Vid anti-vaxxers are saying...if you really bother to listen.

I took the vaccine (no boosters).  I was classified A1 status for the vax, so I took it as an "honor", lol....as I've never been classified "A1" status, for
anything.

And don't compare, say...the MMR vaccine (a completely, one/done,  valid, time-tested vaccine) with the co-vid vaccine (novel, booster-dependent), as proof that "vaccines are SCIENCE!"  Apples/oranges.

Have you heard the "latest" on long-term ramifications of the Co-Vid vaccinations?
URGENT: The most powerful evidence yet that mRNA vaccines hurt long-term immunity to Covid after infectionA bombshell study - from the National Institutes of Health and Moderna, no less - should end debate
https://alexberenson.substack.com/p/urge...idence?s=r

AND...presently...why are the states/areas with the highest vaccination rates, also NOW leading the country with new Co-Vid infections?

Now...that ^^ isn't JAMA...but it's not dog-shit news, either.

Back to the Vikings...Mond should have definitely played the worthless last game of last season.
Clearly (as we know now), not letting Mond play was a final "spit in the eye" from Zim to Spielman, imo.
None of us knew, at the time, how serious the split was between Zim-Spiels.

Pleased with the news Mond may be a viable QB.

FCOL...

If you want to debate Vax? Take it to another thread and board please.

Maybe just a "little consideration" for the other members here?
Nice job, PF.

No, it's not what I meant. It especially wasn't made to be political so please get off that. Mond caught Covid which caused him to miss over a week of practice time early in training camp, meanwhile everyone forgets to note that when talking about what a bust he is already. I don't expect many rookie QB's to miss lots of practice time early in TC and then be expected to be a starter or viable backup in the NFL soon thereafter, and as you say for a HC trying everything he could to win a football game.

And don't let my post make it out that I'm some huge Mond fan. Just stating another angle that doesn't get mentioned as often.

A week or 2 ago I made a post begging someone—anyone!— to give us a scrap of positive Mond news. And here it is! Thank you KOC and this author!

Let’s go Mond!
LOL. I guess beggars can't be choosers. If he can just win the QB2 job I'll be happy. And y'know what? That really shouldn't be that hard.

I can't find Sean Mannion's presser?  Hell, that presser has more views then the head coach lol.
