Also worth noting, Over the last 4 years the Vikes gave up 22 Points or less 29 times out of 65 games...19 of those times came in 2018 and 2019.

I have the Vikes record as 23-6 when holding teams to 22 points or less.

They only held their opponent to 22 points or less 3 times in 2020, but did 7 times this year. Vikes record in those games the last two years was 8-2.

Sorry if I dont give a sh*t about what Zim had to say about Cousins. Tough to win games when you're giving up a ton of points.
One other thing to factor in: schedule. Schedules seemed about average in 18 and 19, but I've been watching this team for 50 years and I don't remember back to back schedules as brutal as 20 and 21. Thankfully the 22 schedule looks a little easier.

You are correct. 11 games vs playoff teams in 2018 and 2019. 15 games vs playoff teams in 2020 and 2021

2018: Played 6 games vs a playoff team and went 1-5. Average margin of defeat - 12.8 points
2019: Played 5 games vs a playoff team and went 1-4. Average margin of defeat - 7 points
2020: Played 7 games vs a playoff team and went 1-6. Average margin of defeat - 9.8 points
2021: Played 8 games vs a playoff team and went 2-6. Average margin of defeat - 6.7 points

KOC and the new crew will have to find a way to be better against better teams

Here’s something for the “wins are a QB stat” crowd:
NFL avg pts allowed since 2018: 22.3

Kirk Cousins, as a Viking, when the defense allows <= 22.3:     21-4
:o
And are the teams we are holding under 22 most likely the teams with winning or losing records?  This stat is misleading and actually validates that Kirk plays better against teams with losing records and doesn't elevate his game against teams with winning records.

Most QBs play better vs teams with a losing record, so whats your point? Kirk/The offense didnt score more points this year vs a team making the playoffs, they averaged the same amount. If you truly care to see how solely Kirk did this year vs teams or how he did on certain downs then go to sports reference and look at the advanced splits section. Ill let you know that he was basically good on all downs but one and was essentially the same QB against good/bad teams.

Kirk is 10-41 in his career against teams with winning records, but yeah he is the same QB against all teams  =) Smile B)  And nothing is ever his fault, it is always the defense, the play calling the OL, the league rules for Covid....etc.....etc....  Tired of the same excuses, time to move on.

Do you ever look at stats or only the end result and then base your decision on that? Deshaun Watson must be a scrub too

I think we've established that this poster doesn't watch games.

At the end
of the day, who wins the game is what matters.
I believe quarterbacks who perform well during the fourth quarter,
specifically the last drive, is what separates them from the others.  Some quarterbacks you just get that sense
they will lead their team down the field for a chance to tie or win, whether it
is two minutes or 30 seconds.  While with
others quarterbacks, the feeling is not there.

I think most
of us are aware of how good Kirk has performed in certain situations and how
not so good in others.  Throughout the
years, there have been many games where the Vikings come up short.

Prior to
this year, three seasons as a Vikings QB, Kirk had not performed well in fourth
quarter comebacks (4QBC) or game winning drives (GWD)

Minnesota (Prior to 2021):

(1) 4QC

(2) GWD

(2) 4QC/GWD

Washington

(1) 4QC

(5) GWD

(7) 4QC/GWD

Something changed in 2021 as his numbers improved. Was this because of the system,
upcoming extension ($$), better O-line, just feeling it?

Minnesota 2021

(1) GWD

(3) 4QC/GWD

His numbers with Washington is still better but perhaps last year is an
indication of better things to come in this area.

Minnesota

(1) 4QC

(3) GWD

(5) 4QC/GWD

Washington

(1) 4QC

(5) GWD

(7) 4QC/GWD
