  • Fully vaccinated people with Delta variant breakthrough infections can spread the virus to others. However, vaccinated people appear to be infectious for a shorter period: Previous variants typically produced less virus in the body of infected fully vaccinated people (breakthrough infections) than in unvaccinated people. In contrast, the Delta variant seems to produce the same high amount of virus in both unvaccinated and fully vaccinated people. However, like other variants, the amount of virus produced by Delta breakthrough infections in fully vaccinated people also goes down faster than infections in unvaccinated people. This means fully vaccinated people are likely infectious for less time than unvaccinated people.
The Vaccine is about 90% effective so even some of us who are vaccinated will have breakthrough infections as referenced above.  But breakthrough infections are still not common among the vaccinated.  So if you roughly use 10% failure/breakthrough, yes those 10% vaccinated are still contagious but for not as long.  It is not saying that all vaccinated people are just as likely to spread Covid 19 or it's current and future variants.
the vaccine does prevent the spread to others

example - total pop of 20
if you have 10 vaccinated ppl only about 1 will have a breakthrough variant or about 10%.    i am reading that the breakthroufh rate is rare so 10% is high end  That 1 person can spread to others both vax/unvax with a breakthrough for a shorter window.   But those 9 other vaxed without breakthrough will not spread.  so the vax is slowing the spread at around 90 of those who are vaxed

The 10 unvaxed are spreaders for covid 19 and all the variants.   they would be even more susceprible to the more viralent variants as well.

their is no medication on earth that is 100% effective and also 100% safe
I've seen reports of 1 in 5, so  20%,  so whats the point?  A person with covid is just as likely to transmit it no matter what their vaccination status is.  When the NFL isn't testing or doing anything to stop vaccinated people from going about their day like its 2019,  they are equally as dangerous or more so to the health of the team as a few unvaccinated players who get tested daily,  and have to mask and distance.
I might be missing your point but let me try to make mine again, last time I promiseSmile

The person who is vaccinated is not "just as likely" to transmit.  Around 90% of those vaccinated do not get a breakthrough so that eliminates those 9 people from being spreaders.  Yes the 1 who had the breakthrough is "just as likely" to transmit for a shorter period of time.  So even a difference with that 1 having to isolate over an extended period of time.

The 10 unvaxed are likely to transmit and for a longer period of time meaning they are exposing all the others (11).

All told 11 of the 20 are still potential spreaders.

If all 20 were vaccinated and it was 90% effective that would mean you have 2 spreaders trying to spread to 18 who are not susceptible/are immune so the spread goes nowhere after seeking out the sickest and most immunocompromised.  The exact % of the population for Covid 19 herd immunity is not known yet but here are some others:

"The percentage of people who need to be immune in order to achieve herd immunity varies with each disease. For example, herd immunity against measles requires about 95% of a population to be vaccinated. The remaining 5% will be protected by the fact that measles will not spread among those who are vaccinated. For polio, the threshold is about 80%. The proportion of the population that must be vaccinated against COVID-19 to begin inducing herd immunity is not known. This is an important area of research and will likely vary according to the community, the vaccine, the populations prioritized for vaccination, and other factors.  Achieving herd immunity with safe and effective vaccines makes diseases rarer and saves lives. "

Sorry if I continue to miss your point.

Yeah,   we're still not on the same page.  Call it close enough.  As far as her immunity goes though,  as long as there are breakthroughs and new variants i don't think herd immunity is likely.  We've never got there with the flu,  I think covid ends up the same way.   With age we will all just learn to have to take it more seriously.

Well at least he is willing to put his money where his mouth is.  If anyone still thinks masks will prevent this, they obviously get their history lessons from the mass media.

Get the shots and masks are no longer needed.
Masks were never needed, and it has nothing to do with getting the shots.

The Vaccine could actually be contribing to the stronger variant.
The virus mutates to stay alive so, it could be coming on stronger to combat the vaccine. We might be getting a new version that is stronger and able to still sicken the vaccinated.
I had the same thoughts,  I indirectly asked an expert in the field and his response was essentially NO.  the mutations will not vary on the carriers vaccination status.
That's funny because the brother of my fiancee's best friend is on the advisory board of one of the big three and said this is definitely a l-t concern.

Unfortunately for us Viking fans, I'm pretty sure we have the most "mouth breathers" than any other NFL team. Confused
And many fans blowing hot air acting like they have the whole coronavirus thing figured out that clearly have no clue what they're talking about.

Well, if I'm blowing "hot air", at least I'm vaxxed and masked up.  Unlike you blowing your spit everywhere while thinking that taking swigs from the Clorax jug and sucking on horse dewormer paste will fix 'ya right up.
It's peaple like you who won't listen to rational doctors found in local hospitals and clincs that are causing this virus to overtake us again.  This is a serious world wide problem; not a Trump vs Fauci contest.   It's time you anti-vaxxers pull your heads out of your asses and do the right thing to stop this.

for the record... a respected Mayo doctor was talking last night on there being pretty compelling trial work in favor of using Ivermectin early on for covid.   and as far as these constant pokes at things that are being tried... do you know what went into your vaccine and what other uses there are for it?  Lets keep this shit civil please.

If you keep digging, you can find anything to support arguments for taking ridiculous drugs to fight COVID.  A horse dewormer wasn't created to fight this virus, so why take it?  My son looked into Ivermectin and said there's no way it's going to help.  He's a doctor, he's very smart (and a Viking fan), I also love him, so I'll listen to him.

I'll trust over 95% of the doctors that say taking the medicines developed to fight COVID specifically is the best way to fight it.  It's the stubborn Americans that think they need to take anything but the vaccines because they all hate Fauci that are the problem, and you know it, Jimmy.
On the news yesterday they were saying everyone that isn't vaxxed will get COVID; it's just a matter of time.  I have stupid family members that are anti-vaxxers too.  I fully expect them to get COVID, but hopefully they won't die and/or seriiously infect others.
This discussion will be never ending, so I'm done with it.

you take what you want to take,  but I wasnt digging for anything on ivermectin,  KFAN has a mayo doctor do a regular segement on health and he has been quick to shut things down if they are dead wrong and he was saying ivermectin was possibly a viable treatment.

For the record, ivermectin got its FDA approval for use in humans about 40 years before any covid vaccine, and is on the WHOs list of essential medicines.... I personally wouldnt likely use it,  but those that keep trying to demean those that bring it up look pretty ignorant in doing so considering the facts on the drug.

honestly I dont know that its that those you argue with are "anti vaccines"  as they likely had their kids vaccinated in the past,  concern over the latest unproven drug is not being irrational IMO.
