I don’t agree that people are stuck in their ways about the vaccine.  There’s two main obstacles that get in the
way of converting people to that viewpoint.
The biggest obstacle the pro-vaccine community has is that many people
have a valid mistrust of authority, namely political authority, medical
authority, and media authority.  It’s
unfortunate that in the past, that these institutions have eroded public trust
so far that it has created a large number of people that won’t believe anything
they say.

The second obstacle is that they (as a group) are horrible
at communicating in a persuasive manner.
You will never change anyone’s mind, by first insulting them.  The pro-vaccine tribe’s dominant form of
communication is in belittling other people.
In this thread there are 3 replies to the original post, and all 3
replies have taken the tone of being a moral authority looking down from their
ivory tower dismissively at the bad people who are being irresponsible.  This will immediately put everyone who isn’t
already on the tribe, on the defensive and make it harder for them to hear any
of their more factually based arguments.
Yes, you've pinpointed it: the science backed information and overwhelming multitude of doctors for vaccinations just wasn't presented by nice enough people. If only they were more persuasive....more patient. The 'ivory tower' is just so high, I think the address is 103 W. Moral Authority Drive. The air is so rarified. You've convinced me. They just can't 'hear' it right, shame on us, the belittlers.

Need to take a Dale Carnegie course.  Belittling people is not a successful way to win and influence others.  Belittling is all too common today in a variety of areas, especially on the web!
I have much to learn!
Lol, we all do!

So Adam didn't think having a pregnant wife and going to the hospital to have his baby delivered warranted getting vaccinated?  Pretty disappointing IMO.
So AT must be a Trumper?  He maybe just gulped down a glass or two of Clorox to wash down a hand full of hydroxychloroquine tablets before heading up to the hospital.  Yay Science!

Here's a link to Joe Rogan talking to Daryl Davis.  This is an excellent listen.  Daryl Davis is a black man who has befriended a lot of KKK members and over time has convinced them to change their long standing hatred and renounce the klan.  If you're not a Joe Rogan listener, his story is in lots of places.  It does a good job of expressing the mindset needed for helping change the views of others.

AT is one of my favorite players.  I don't agree with his position on a covid vaccination and believe mocking an individual not a mature move.  People choosing not to be a vaccinated are a diverse group, do you really know AT thinking on the matter?

I like him as a player too, and he's from Detroit Lakes.  I don't know him personally, but the family lake cabin I grew up in and now own is just minutes from DL.  The DL area was littered with Trump signs this past fall, and even had a Trump store downtown on the main retail street.  I still see Trump flags flying high on people's docks even this summer.  I guess I just put two and two together and made the wild guess that the Thielen family are Trumpers.  Something tells me I'm right about that.

I've listened to it and its quite wonderful. Shows what can happen when you break down barriers and see that we are all human.

But this has NOTHING to do with not getting vaccinated, lol.

Maybe...  Or maybe not...  Mocking is not really appropriate either way but commonly accepted on the internet where it is easy to be tough guy!

I'm not being a tough guy in anyway.  I do think not
getting vaccinated for his newborn child, his wife, and other kids is
incredibly selfish.  Is he going to disallow his children from all
vaccines or just the COVID shots?  I wonder if he has pets, and does he
get rabies shots for them?  I just think Thielen isn't a very smart fellow
when it comes to ending pandemics.  And yes, I do think most people that
won't get the vaccine are Trumpers; not all, but most.

Pretty sure he was talking to the manner of 'debate' on the internet.

I linked to that because it’s one of the most explicit
examples of people changing someone elses mind.
People who are trying to convince other people to get vaccinated, if
they so desire, could learn something from that podcast about changing peoples
set in beliefs, breaking down tribal walls, and apply it to their own
situation.
