Peter King Thinks Vikings Suck
#11

I think we'll have at least one team in the Super Bowl this year with a head coach making his SB debut. My favorite candidates include Sean McDermott, Kevin Stefanski, Mike Zimmer and Frank Reich. I would also add the team with Aaron Rodgers. Who is your choice?

The Godfather disagrees.

so what would be the ideal matchup for the Vikes.  I know he said one team... but, Zim versus Stef?  Vikings vs Buffalo?  Zim's revenge on Reich?

I think they would all be pretty tough and any of them beatable.  Vikes have a hard schedule, I hope that prepares them for the post season.  To be the best you have to beat the best.

Strength of schedule always seems to be big talk in the offseason and then not so much once the season is underway.  Then it picks up a different narrative as the season winds down.

Just look at it this way.  If GB trots out Love rather than Rodgers, those games look much different.

The real reason why we won't get to the SB is that there will be a team in the NFCC game that we have to beat.

I don't see the Vikings as a 5-win team. New interior DL, several starters returning from injuries, and more experience in the secondary. On offense, Cousins a top 15 QB paired with Jefferson, Thielen, Cook, and Smith and they finally have a young OL to build around. It's fine to question the youth/inexperience on the OL, whether Hunter comes back at full strength, if a pass rusher opposite of him emerges, and questions on special teams, but I see their floor more at 8-9 wins and their ceiling will depend on how well the OL comes together, staying healthy on D, and not being a complete disaster on special teams.

Tom Brady has a couple fists full of rings that say otherwise... the Pats IMO were aided by never really having a difficult schedule since they spent the last 2 decades in what was typically the least competitive conference in the game,  sure they had to play a first place schedule quite often,  but having the phins, bills, and jets to get healthy on is like getting some extra bye weeks every year.

of course we have the lions and yet Zimmer has had his hands full dealing with that perennial cellar dweller.

I agree but I think a team gets mental toughness by beating good teams among other things.
